Calcium nitrate.tetrahydrate

Chemical Designations - Synonyms Calcium Nitrate Tetrahydrate Chemical Formula Ca(N03)2 4Hj0. [Pg.76]

Cemy A process for crystallizing calcium nitrate tetrahydrate, used as a fertilizer, by cooling the saturated solution with drops of cold petroleum. [Pg.59]

Method. The organothiophosphorus insecticides are separated on silica gel with hexane-acetone (2 1 or 3 1). The plate is dried in air and sprayed with a solution of calcein-palladium chloride (0.0005 M palladium chloride in 0.1 M hydrochloric acid mixed with an equal volume of 10-3 Af calcein, adjusted to pH 7.2 with phosphate buffer and diluted with water to obtain a 2.0 10 4Af solution of palladium equilibrated overnight) which is diluted 1 1 with a 50% solution of acetone—water. When the plate is translucent it is dried in air and stored for 18—24 h in a closed chromatographic tank containing a beaker of a saturated solution of calcium nitrate tetrahydrate. This procedure permits the full fluorescence to develop under controlled humidity. The plate is then observed under a UV light at 365 nm, or scanned quantitatively at 365 nm (excitation) and 518 nm (emission). [Pg.196]

CALCIUM NITRATE TETRAHYDRATE (10124-37-5) A strong oxidizer. Violent reaction with reducing materials. Forms shock-sensitive mixtures with organic contaminants. Incompatible with combustible materials (wood, cloth, oil, grease, etc.), organics, and other easily oxidizable materials, chemically active metals, aluminum nitrate, ammonium nitrate, cyanides, esters, phosphorus, sodium hypophosphate, thyocyanates. Corrosive to many substances, including aluminum. [Pg.249]

Solution 1 Dissolve 157.6 g calcium nitrate tetrahydrate [Ca(N03)24H20] in 500 ml DI water. Bring the solution to a pH of 11 by adding 70 ml ammonium hydroxide [NH4OH]. Bring the solution to 800 ml with DI water. [Pg.622]

If you use calcium nitrate [Ca(N03)2nH20] instead of calcium nitrate tetrahydrate you need to recalculate the amount of calcium nitrate to add to make Solution 1 on the basis of the absence of the extra four waters. If you do not, you will have to add a large amount of ammonium hydroxide to pH the solution ... [Pg.622]

The continuous DCC crystallizer shown in Figure 8.40 has been used for the large-scale production of calcium nitrate tetrahydrate (Cerny, 1963). Aqueous feedstock enters at the top of the crystallizer at 25 C and flows countercur-rently to the immiscible coolant droplets, e.g. petroleum, introduced into the draft tube at 15 °C. The magma, containing crystals of mean size 500 pm, is discharged at 5 °C. The low-density coolant collects in the upper layers and passes to a cyclone to separate aqueous solution droplets before being recycled. [Pg.376]

Calcium nitrate tetrahydrate [13477-34-4] M 236.1, m 45 (hydrate), 560 (anhydrous). Crystallise the nitrate four times from water (0.4ml/g) by cooling in a CaCl2-ice freezing mixture. The tetrahydrate is dried over cone H2SO4 and stored over P2O5, to give the anhydrous salt. It is deliquescent. After 3 reciystallisations of ACS grade salt, it had Co, Fe, Mg, Sr and Zn at 0.2,1.0,0.02,10 and 0.02 ppm resp. [Bassett Taylor J Chem Soc 105 1926 1914.]... [Pg.567]

The potential of advanced synthesis techniques to develop CaO-based sorbents stabilized by a support material has been demonstrated recently by Broda et al. [74] who synthesized AhOs-stabilized CO2 sorbents by employing a sol-gel technique. Here, aluminium iso-propoxide was added to reverse osmosis water (15 Mf2 cm) and allowed to hydrolyse for 30 min at 75 °C. Subsequently, a calcium precursor, i.e. calcium acetate hydrate (Ca(CH300)2-H20), calcium nitrate tetrahydrate (Ca(N03)2-4H20) or calcium acetylacetonate (Ca(CsH702)), was dissolved in water and, together with an acid (either acetic or nitric acid), added... [Pg.211]

In the dissolving section phosphate rock and nitric acid are mixed together in the dissolving reactors. Nitric acid of about 60% concentration is used in slight stoichiometric excess. The temperature in the reactors is kept constant at 60 -70 C by cooling or heating nitric acid. In addition to fresh nitric acid, wash acid from the inerts filter and from the calcium nitrate tetrahydrate (CNTH) filter is fed to the reactors. [Pg.387]
