Fire risk assessment is made in order to determine the overall value of decreasing fire hazard in a particular scenario. The level of fire risk that is acceptable for a situation is, normally, a societal, and not a technical, decision. Therefore, fire hazard assessments are generally more common than fire risk assessments. The NFPA Research Foundation has undertaken a project to develop a methodology for fire risk assessment. It has done this by studying four cases in detail upholstered furniture in residential environments, wire and cable in concealed spaces in hotels and motels, floor coverings in offices and wall coverings in restaurants. [Pg.475]

Dodd, Annabel Z. The Essential Guide to Telecommunications. 4th ed. Indianapolis, Ind. Prentice Hall Professional Technical Reference, 2005. A detailed source of information on the various types of telecommunications, including Wi-Fi and cable. [Pg.1795]

The systems engineer provides layouts of cable runs and connections to the architect. Such detailed documentation simplifies equipment installation and facilitates future changes in the system. During preparation of final construction documents, the architect and the systems engineer can firm up the layout of the technical equipment wire ways, including access to flooring, conduits, trenches, and overhead wire ways. [Pg.2356]

The SPI kit covers the primary processing machine communication protocol with chillers, blenders, dryers, water systems, discrete mold-temperature controllers, and the like. The protocol provides for centralized setup and monitoring of auxiliaries by the primary machine. The test simulation software that is a key part of the kit ensures uniform interpretation of technical specifications. It is a combination of a detailed technical specification of hardware requirements such as the type of cable, the connector and electrical interface, and software requirements. The kit protocol shows how electronic information moves through the system. [Pg.711]
