C3 chains

The cross signals in the INADEQUATE plot show the CC bonds for two part structures A and B. Taking the C signal at 8c = 174.1 as the starting point the hydrocarbon skeleton A and additional C3 chain B result. [Pg.195]

Because of the extreme industrial importance of simple hydrocarbons such as propylene in hydroformylation, the reaction of a-olefins has been studied in much detail. As noted before, the formyl group can be attached to either of the carbon atoms which constitute the original double bond. For olefins of greater than C3 chain length, the formyl group may, under certain conditions, also be attached to a carbon atom which was originally saturated. But for propylene only two isomers are possible, as shown in Eq. (25). [Pg.17]

The difference between propane and 2-methylpropane on Mg2V207 cannot be explained by the size of the C3 chain. We propose that although with difficulties, a Q species still has a finite probability to interact with both vanadium ions in a V2O7 unit in the catalyst to lead to the formation of combustion products. This probability is twice as large for 2-methylpropene (or... [Pg.403]

Recently, the electrochemical behavior saturated alcohols, that is, propargyl alcohol (HCSCCH2OH, PA) [145], benzyl alcohol (C6H5CH2OH, BA) [146] andallylalcohol [147], has been studied at Pd electrodes in an acid medium by cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, and on-line mass spectrometry. For BA, it was observed that the fragmentation of the molecules occurs at potentials in the hydrogen ad-sorption/absorption region of palladium, whereas for PA the adsorbates maintain the C3-chain. On the other hand, the yields of the electroreduction and electrooxidation products for both PA and BA differ from those obtained at Pt [146,148,149]. [Pg.514]

Chalcones (1.24) and dihydrochalocones (1.25) have a linear C3-chain connecting the two rings. The C3-chain of chalcones contains a double bond, whereas the C3-chain of dihydrochalcones is saturated. [Pg.8]

Apolar stationary phases suffer from hydrolytic instability at pH extremes. The use of mixed phases of long (Cg, Clg) and short (C, C3) chain alkyls produces stationary phases with increased hydrolytic stability.7,8 Crowding of the long alkyl chains does not allow the alkylsilane molecules to deposit in close packing on a smooth or flat surface. Silane molecules polymerize in vertical direction, loosing contact with the silica surface. The insertion of short chain alkyls allows horizontal polymerization of the silane molecules. Thus, alkyl chains are aligned in a parallel way. The stability of the silane layer is increased consequently (figure 8.1). [Pg.156]

In order to avoid over-crowding of the alkyl chains, but retain the advantages of molecular self-assembly, mixed phases of long and short chain alkyls have been prepared. As one of such possible combinations, C3 chains have been mixed with... [Pg.182]

Following the principle that the coupling partner will have the same coupling constant, one can identify in the aliphatic region a C3 chain as a further part structure, C. [Pg.186]

Molecular wires, 208 211 in which two metal centers are connected by an unsupported C3 chain, as in compound 191, have been generated by addition of BF3 to binuclear bridged (l-alkynyl)carbene complex lw (Scheme 80).27 29,212 Similar compounds were derived from tungsten, rhenium, and iron moieties. A binuclear complex 192 containing a C5 bridge has been also obtained 27... [Pg.230]

Tropane and Pyrrolidine Alkaloids.— The biosynthesis of cuscohygrine (29) has been examined in Scopolia lurida and Atropa belladonna. Both [l- C]acetate and [2- C]acetate were specifically incorporated into cuscohygrine in the latter plant. Degradation revealed a labelling pattern in the C3 chain [see (29)], consistent with an origin from acetoacetate. [Pg.9]

For the synthesis of the 4,5-epoxy derivative, namely maysine and for that of the 3-hydroxy-4,5-epoxy derivative, maytansinol required for maytansine a number of further problems had to be surmounted. The aldehyde from step xiv (R = Me) resulting from the deketalisation of Q (R = Me) and C3 chain extension was the starting point. A new chiral centre, to avoid epimer separation, was introduced by the use of the reagent, (R)-(+)-4-tolyl phenoxycarbonylmethyl sulphoxide prepared by route (e). The synthesis of maytansinol is shown in (f). [Pg.647]

The molecular and crystal structures of fats are exemplified here by a small, crystallizable model compound with two chains at carbon atoms 1 and 2 of glycerol and a Cg chain on C3 (Fig. 2.2.7). Chains 1 and 3 run parallel in all-trans conformations except for the usual gauche bent next to the ester bond on C3. Chain 2 runs in the other direction, is also all-trans, and is parallel to the two chains of neighboring molecules. The arrangement of the molecules as a whole within a crystal plane is uniformly antiparallel. [Pg.79]
