One of Albuquerque s most popular stop-offs for budget travelers is here. Frontier Restaurant (2400 Central Ave. SE, rr 505-266-0550) isn t exactly a mecca for vegetarians, but it s cheap, it s open 24 hours, it s full of Southwestern bric-a-brac, and it s got enough seats for the entire University of New Mexico student body. 

Another popular spot for budget travelers is Home Planet Cafe (112 W. Marcy St., b 505-984-8714). They advertise comfort food for anxious times, and you ll indeed find a place to relax at the Home Planet. Ask for the dragon bowl without the chicken - a steaming mix of grilled veggies, greens, beans, rice and tofu. 

Each firm has a list of their most important customers, which they keep track of with great attention. Sellers of jet fuels must be aware of the economic health of the airlines, which depends on the budgets of the business and leisure travelers, which in turn depends on business profits and individual incomes, as well as of accident rates and wars. Sellers of fertilizers must be aware of droughts and locusts in farming regions, and of public opinion on the safety of genetically modified food. 

Training. There may be a need to send users to the instrument supplier to take operation and maintenance training. The traveling and tuition should be included in the budget. 

Few studies are conducted at a single location, and travel by study monitors, CRAs, physicians and auditors can amount to significant expenditure. Major companies can ameliorate such costs by negotiating special rates with airlines, rental car companies and hotel chains. Indeed, companies may be able to pass such savings on to CROs working for them. Such savings may amount to 50% of the total travel budget.

Overhead is nonproductive time spent on tasks that do not support execution of the project workplan or production of the deliverables but ctm have considerable impact on the project schedule, the resource loading, and potentially the budget. Overhead could include travel time, holidays, vacation, professional development, or personal/sick time. 

Besides providing a budget, most grant agencies require a budget justification. Sample examples of how to justify positions, supplies and travel are found in Appendix A.
