Betulae folium

Pietta PG, Mauri PL, Manera E and Ceva PL. 1989. HPLC determination of the flavonoid glycosides from Betulae folium extracts. Chromatographia 28 311—312. [Pg.152]

BIRCH LEAF, Betulae folium The drug consists of the dried leaves of Betula, pendula, Roth, and Betula, pubescens, Ehrh., family Betulaceae. The leaves have a weak aromatic smell and light bitter taste. They contain about 2% flavone-glycosides as hyperoside and quercitrin and also about 0.5% ascorbic acid. The diuretic and saluretic effect has been verified in animal experiments and may be due to potassium in the leaves. [Pg.78]

Spare time, has developed artistic TLCs in which the main medicinal plants used were Ginkgo biloba, Echinacea purpurea, Hypericum perforatum, Betula folium, Soli-dago virgauria and Chelidonium majus. The CHROMarts obtained have been shown at trade fairs (Interlaken 1995, InCom 1998) and in om own exhibitions (Ansbach 1998 [172], Eckental 1999 [173]). Experts as well as newcomers to TLC have now taken up this art, and the title pages of brochures and scientific jomnals are now being adorned with CHROMarts [174-176]. [Pg.254]
