Typical compactor roll configurations are shown in Fig. 8. Most compactors now have one floating roll and one fixed roll each on separate bearing blocks. An illustration of this is shown in Fig. 9. [Pg.3166]

Bepex-Hosokowa Co. compactor (Fig. 21) consists of a pair of rolls that are both fixed and not cantilevered. The rolls are mounted on a horizontal plane in fixed bearing blocks and there is a set fixed gap distance. The Bepex roll designs are concave and can be water cooled. [Pg.3174]

In Figure 257 two typical cantilever-shaft designs are depicted. In Figure 257(a) (K. R. Komarek, Inc., Elk Grove Village, 111., USA) the rolls (1) are positioned one above the other. In this case, feeding must be accomplished horizontally from one side. The roll shafts (2) are supported in two lower (4) and two upper bearing blocks (4a) which are clamped in between two frame plates (3) held... [Pg.303]

Typically, one roll (Figure 260(b)) is fixed in the frame by clamping the respective bearing blocks (4) between the center stop and resistance block (7). The other bearing blocks (4a) can slide in the frame and are held in place by a flexible pressurizing system generating the operating (separation) force. [Pg.306]

While many machines use only one hydraulic accumulator (as shown, for example, in Fig. 8.128g.l) and the two hydraulic cylinders are connected with common hydraulic tubing, the more sophisticated (and better) system uses at least one accumulator per bearing block and pressure lines that are separated from each other by non-return valves. In this design (as shown in Fig. 8.136), if the floating roller cocks, the hydraulic pressure in that part of the system that moves more also increases more and tries to push the bearing block back to regain a parallel position. Systems that are always in... [Pg.358]

Roller presses that are used for the compaction offertilizers (Fig. 6.6-16) feature selfaligning roller bearings, optimally sized steel bearing blocks, and a hydraulic pressurizing system with proprietary functions and hydraulic accumulators. The latter allow adjustment of the pressure-response characteristic and provide for overload protection. While in some cases simple gravity feeders with flow control baffles are provided, most applications require one or more screw feeder(s) with variable (e.g., hydraulic) speed drives to force the material to be compacted into the nip between the rollers [B.48, B.97]. [Pg.668]

The reaction tank 15, when filled with solution, defines a reaction zone. The space between the reaction tank 15 and the absorber tank 5 defines an absorption zone. In this latter space is placed a quantity of thorium oxide pellets 60 introduced through absorber supply pipe 61. Pellets 60 can be removed from the absorption zone through axial outlet 11 connected with an absorber outlet pipe 62 through bearing block 6. The pellets 60 arc held in the absorbing zone by absorber valve 64 operated by lever 65 outside of walls 1. [Pg.769]

The head of water in the pit is applied to the top of the absorber tank 5 which is open. The water passes through the voids between the pellets 60 and enters lower pit portion 2 through apertures 12, and also through bores 66 in bearing block 6 so that the pellets 60 immediately above the valve 64 can be cooled. The water then passes upwardly between the absorber tank 5 and the pit walls, exerting pressure on spiral fins 9 to rotate the absorber tank 5. The water then passes into a circumferential collector 70 through a plurality of passages 71 near the top of the absorber tank 5. Water from the collector 70 is then pumped up to the top of the pit by a plurality of pumps 72 and risers 73. Thus, as the water circulates the absorber tank 5 is rotated so that paddles 10 will stir up pellets 60. [Pg.769]

Another PAA-PSt-P4VP (4VP 4-vinyl pyridine) terpolymer bearing blocks with similar functionalities as in the previous cases but with a long PSt in the middle was synthesized according to the macromonomer pathway.
