Back blowing

The range of satisfactory operation for a gas burner, defined by light-back, blow-off and incomplete combustion is limited. The variation in gas analyses, particularly higher hydrocarbons and inerts, can influence the range of operation. This has led to the definition of different groups of natural gas. A practical effect is that burners designed for the European continent may not be suitable for the UK without adjustment. This does not apply to forced-draft burners. [Pg.275]

The mats are moved along the line to the press loader. When the loader is filled and the press opens to remove the load of freshly pressed boards, the loader pushes the new boards into the unloader and deposits the load of mats on the press platens. The press closes as quickly as possible to the desired panel thickness. More pressure, as much as 4.8—6.9 MPa (700—1000 psi) is required to press high density dry-process hardboard, because the dry fiber exhibits much more resistance to compression and densification than wet fiber. Press temperatures are also higher, in the range of 220—246°C. No screens are used in the dry-process, but the moisture in the mats requires a breathe cycle during pressing to avoid blowing the boards apart at the end of the cycle. Because no screens are used, the products are called smooth-two-sides (S-2-S), in contrast to the wet-process boards, which have a screen pattern embossed into the back side and are known as smooth-one-side (S-l-S). [Pg.389]

Under normal processing conditions at 300—350°C, Tefzel resins are not subject to autocatalytic degradation. However, extended overheating can result in "blow-backs" through extmder feed hopper or barrel front. [Pg.370]

Whereas there is no universally accepted specification for marketed natural gas, standards addressed in the United States are Hsted in Table 6 (8). In addition to these specifications, the combustion behavior of natural gases is frequently characteri2ed by several parameters that aid in assessing the influence of compositional variations on the performance of a gas burner or burner configuration. The parameters of flash-back and blow-off limits help to define the operational limits of a burner with respect to flow rates. The yeUow-tip index helps to define the conditions under which components of the natural gas do not undergo complete combustion, and the characteristic blue flame of natural gas burners begins to show yellow at the flame tip. These... [Pg.172]

The alloys can be processed into parts requiring hydrolytic and autoclave stabiHty, such as desalinization filter frames and medical devices. Foamed products are used in cabinets for business machines, computers, and copiers. Automotive seat backs are made by blow mol ding and replacements for metal parts by injection mol ding. [Pg.271]

A conventional valve that is piped, including its blow-back section, to be open to vacuum during polishing. When the precoat is consumed its blow-back section is turned on to remove the remaining precoat heel over the doctor blade. [Pg.522]

The convention extrusion blow moulding process may be continuous or intermittent. In the former method the extruder continuously supplies molten polymer through the annular die. In most cases the mould assembly moves relative to the die. When the mould has closed around the parison, a hot knife separates the latter from the extruder and the mould moves away for inflation, cooling and ejection of the moulding. Meanwhile the next parison will have been produced and this mould may move back to collect it or, in multi-mould systems, this would have been picked up by another mould. Alternatively in some machines the mould assembly is fixed and the required length of parison is cut off and transported to the mould by a robot arm. [Pg.269]

If the supply jet is inclined upward, while situated at the front of the table, its function could be similar to an air curtain in an opening. However, the inclination from the horizontal for the jet is usually very slight, since angles above 3 to 10 degrees sharply deteriorate the function of the ventilation system. If the jet is directed vertically, it should be placed along the back wall, blowing upward. [Pg.981]

These replaceable cartridges or packs are the most commonly used however, there are cartridges of wire mesh, sintered or porous metal which can be removed, cleaned, and replaced. Usually, the fine pores of the metal become progressively plugged and the cartridges lose capacity. They are often used for filtering hot fluids, or polymers with suspended particles, pharmaceuticals, and foods (liquids). In the case of polymers and other applications a special solvent and blow-back cleaning system may be employed. [Pg.279]
