Automatic cutting machines

In this connection a more detailed account will only be given of a method that permits calculation of HMO orbital energies of a model of a heterocycle without expanding the secular determinant from the knowledge of molecular orbital energies and expansion coefficients of the parent hydrocarbon.11-15 Now that automatic computing machines are commonly used for quantum-chemical calculations we see the chief merit of the method in that it permits one to study the effect of empirical parameters on energy characteristics in a clear-cut and concise manner. [Pg.73]

A routine operation usually proceeds as follows. First the head of the femur is sawn off. The socket in the pelvis (the acetabulum) is then made deeper with a cutting machine and subsequently the metal socket is stamped into the hip. This metal is then lined with plastic to facilitate sliding movements. The femur is scooped out with a rasp and filled with cement. This cement is a mixture of plastics which automatically polymerizes in the femur. Since 1997 it has been becoming customary to grind up old hip heads and use the bone shreds together with the cement as a filler for the shaft of the prosthesis. The stem of the prosthesis is hammered into the femur, the spherical head is attached to it and inserted into the plastic socket. [Pg.274]

After being set up for cutting material to a specified length, the power hacksaw will operate automatically without need for an operator until all the material loaded on the carriage has been cut. Horizontal band saws are one of the most widely used sawing machines for cutoff operations. These band saws range from small manually operated machines to large, fully automatic production machines. Vertical band saws are also used but are primarily manually controlled machines used in tool rooms and shops for maintenance and low production work. [Pg.183]

After loading a new film for the 365-run UV light, this should first be exposed using visible light so that the automatic developing machine in the professional laboratory can detect the start of the film and will not cut off the first and subsequent negatives. [Pg.186]

Automatic screw machine forming involves the use of bar stock, which is fed and cut to the desired shape. [Pg.1320]

The automated spreading process is performed on special tables. The main parts of a spreading machine are a fabric spreader tmck, a fabric feed system, an automatic cutting device, an end-catchCT, an operator stand panel, an encoder system, and a control panel. [Pg.226]

The first generation of computerised machine featured a needle positioner (NP) and UBT. The NP can definitively take/move the needle either up or down based on settings, when the machine stops and the UBT automatically cuts the threads whenever the machine gets a signal to complete/terminate sewing. While using this first generation of the machine, only activities (3), (5) and (6) in the list in Section 11.5 are eliminated, but the operator still needs to perform the rest of the wasteful motions. [Pg.293]

Dinnerware. An American term (ASTM C242) for ceramic whiteware made in a consistent pattern and a full range of articles to make up a dinner service. Dinosaur. A precision setting machine which automatically cuts, faces and sets green bricks. (Pearne Lacy, USA Craven Fawcett, Leeds). [Pg.92]

In-line processing is done automatically, with little or no extra labor on the part of the machine operator. Heat required can be retained from the extrusion operation. The extra processing, which may involve shaping, cutting, re-forming, or surface modification of the extrudate, can considerably increase the value of the extrusion without materially... [Pg.481]

A recent cartridging machine is the Rollex, designed by the firm of Niepmann Sons. This operates on an entirely different principle in that the explosive is first rolled into a sheet and then portions of this sheet are cut off and automatically wrapped in paper. It can also be used for cartridging semi-gelatine explosives. [Pg.43]
