Angelica root oil is obtained by steam distillation of the dried roots of Angelica archangelica L. [Archangelica officinalis (Moench) Hoffm.], a plant occurring predominantly in Europe (Apiaceae). The oil is a pale yellow to deep amber liquid with a green, herbaceous, peppery, musk-like odor and a bittersweet taste. 

Angelica (Archangelica officinalis Hoffm.) honey is collected from the flowers of angelica or archangel, which is widespread in the Soviet Union. This honey has a pleasant aroma and flavor.

Other methods for extracting from plant material include ultrasonification, microwave-assisted solvent extraction in open and in pressurized modes, and accelerated solvent extraction, also called pressurized liquid extraction with exhaustive extraction in a Soxhlet apparatus [42,43]. In Pastinaca saliva and Archangelica officinalis fruits, higher yields of hydrophobic furanocoumarins (bergapten, imperatorin, and phellopterin) were extracted with pressurized liquid extraction in Soxhlet apparatus [41-50],... 

Other relatively simple macrolides synthesized by Fiirstner et al. are recifeiolide (96) - a musk fragrance enhancer isolated from Cephalosporium recifei (Equation 1, Scheme 5.22) [47] exaltolide (99) [48] - a musk odorant perfume isolated from Archangelica officinalis, which was the first macrolactone to be prepared by RCM (Equation 2, Scheme 5.22) and muscopyridine (102) (Equation 3, Scheme 5.22) [49], which is present in the secretion of the ventral glands of male musk deer.
