Amino acids retrieval

These initial findings do not exclude other possible formaldehyde-induced reactions with tissue proteins. Notably, this first model system was not designed to detect the role of lysine residues. Lysine has a propensity to react with and form a variety of different types of cross-links with other amino acids in the presence of formaldehyde.1,3 417 Therefore, it is likely to also be important in reactions with formaldehyde. In fact, peptides with internal lysine residues were purposefully excluded from this initial study for technical reasons. To explore the importance of lysine residues in antigen retrieval, an alternative method was employed. [Pg.291]

To date, only few very recent gas-phase studies on this subject can be retrieved from the literature, i.e., (i) a gas-phase study on the displacement of several amino acids from the chiral amido esorcinarene 9 (Scheme 9) carried out by Speranza and coworkers using an electrospray-ionization Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance (ESl-FT-lCR) mass spectrometer," " and (ii) Lebrilla and coworkers study on the ability of the achiral calix[4]arene 7 and calix[6]arene 8 to form inclusion complexes with natural amino acids under matrix-assisted laser... [Pg.229]

To localize ERp on paraffin sections, 65-kDa antirat ER antibodies are used (Upstate Biotechnology, Lake Placid, NY). This antibody is obtained by immunizing rabbits with synthetic peptides representing the N-terminal amino acid residues 46-63 of human ER(3. The deparaffinized sections on slides are placed in the Target Retrieval Solution (pH 6.1)... [Pg.277]

To localize ER[3 in frozen sections, antigen retrieval with heating is not required. 210-180-C050 antibodies (Alexis Corporation, Nottingham, UK) are obtained by immunizing rabbits with synthetic peptides representing the C-terminal amino acid residues 467-485 of human estrogen. [Pg.278]

Physicochemical properties of amino acids are very useful descriptors for understanding the structures and properties of proteins. These properties are expressed numerically in indexes that can be retrieved from the AAindex database. Design an index database of physicochemical properties of amino acids with Microsoft Access that may facilitate the data retrieval according to their chemical similarities ... [Pg.101]
