Alert blindness

One should be alert to the possibility of color blindness due to statins (13), although the risk is uncertain. 

In a double-blind study of 102 patients with a mean age of 70 years, flunitrazepam was compared with zopiclone (74). The patients rated their sleep in a diary. There was no statistically significant difference between the relatively low dose of 5 mg zopiclone and 1 mg flunitrazepam for 11 of the 12 variables measuring subjective sleep quality and quantity. There was no difference between the drugs in regard to patients feelings of being rested or alertness. 

The National Institutes of Health conducted a double-blind, 3-year study in patients with major depression of moderate severity using St. John s wort and sertraline. This study did not support the use of St. John s wort in the treatment of major depression, but a possible role for St. John s wort in the treatment of miider forms of depression was suggested. Health care providers should alert their patients about potential drug interactions with St. John s Wort. Some other frequently used herbal supplements that have not been evaluated in large-scale clinical trials are ephedra, gingko biloba, echinacea, and ginseng. Any herbal supplement should be taken only after consultation with the physician or other health care provider. 

Transcatheter embolization has the potential to further reduce mortality in acute non-variceal upper GIH, provided we continue our efforts to optimize the occlusive technique and enhance the haemostatic effect. Furthermore, increasing angiographic sensitivity, which in our opinion depends much on the alertness of the involved endoscopist, will reduce the need for non-targeted blind embolization. Whether transcatheter techniques can replace surgical salvage in upper GIH remains to be established by prospective randomized studies. 

Signal their intentions — Signal well in advance of making a lane change. If another driver is in a blind spot, signaling should alert him or her. Also, it is recommended that drivers turn to look directly at the space to their sides and rear before starting the maneuver. 

Megadoses of vitamin C have been suggested to improve mental alertness and psychomotor performance in normal subjects. A double-blind crossover study did not substantiate these reports, even though plasma ascorbate levels were increased threefold (Woolliscroft, 1983). 

Tactile warning devices (TWDs) A small raised triangle applied to a package intended to alert the blind and visually impaired to the fact that they are handling a container of a dangerous chemical. 

Some must have tactile danger warning to alert the blind and partially sighted to the danger. This is often a raised triangle. 

Individual awareness is an essential sensor for strengthening consciousness so that any individual can take independent decisions without blind directions. It is necessary to consider the following essentials, if one would like to be alerted along this line.
