Aldehydes cyclic

The organic compounds were dissolved or dispersed in an aqueous solution of the catalyst, with or without an organic cosolvent, and the net oxidations were carried out at applied potentials causing the oxidation of Ru11 to RuIV complex (0.6-0.8 V vs. SCE). It has been demonstrated that this electrocatalytic system is capable of providing a general and selective method for the oxidation of alcohols, aldehydes, cyclic ketones, and C—11 bonds adjacent to alkeneic or aromatic groups. [Pg.499]

Copolymers of am1de/blocked aldehyde-cyclic hemlamidal monomers show a rich and broad chemistry and offer a number of desirable features as specialty copolymers. They provide high shelf and... [Pg.476]

This protocol complements Akiyama s method which provides P-amino carbonyl compounds as i yn-diastereomers [14], It tolerated aromatic, heteroaromatic, and aliphatic aldehydes. Cyclic ketones, acetone, as well as acetophenone derivatives could be employed. The use of aromatic ketones as Mannich donors was up to that time unprecedented in asymmetric organocatalysis. Rueping et al. independently expanded the scope of the asymmetric Brpnsted acid-catalyzed Mannich reaction of acetophenone [45]. [Pg.417]

Chlorocyclopentanecarboxylic acid (In similar fashion to the use of the -carbaldehyde suffix in naming aldehydes, cyclic compounds with the carboxy group attached to the ring use the name of the ring with the suffix -carboxylic acid.)... [Pg.477]

A study on the scope of the reaction applied to different types of carbonyl compounds (aldehydes, cyclic ketones and some substituted alkyl aryl ketones75) has been published. Two different secondary amines (pyrrolidine, morpholine) were used. Titanium tetrachloride on various supports (e.g. A1203) acted as effective dehydrating agents for the preparation of enamines from hindered ketones and secondary amines76. [Pg.470]

TBA reactivity is thus a reflection of the total amount of MDA, / -unsaturated aldehydes, cyclic peroxides and contaminants present in the sample and in the basic form, the reaction is clearly not specific for any one class of peroxidation product (Kosugi and Kugawa, 1986). However, as a first approximation, measurement of tissue fraction oxidation it can be a useful method because it is quick and easy. Great care must be exercised in the interpretation of the results. [Pg.147]

Hetero-Diels-Alder Reactions of Aldehydes. Cyclic conjugated dienes, such as 1,3-cyclohexadiene, are excellent substrates for the hetero-Diels-Alder reaction with ethyl glyoxylate catalyzed by Cu[(5, 5 )-t-Bu-box] (OTf)2 (eq 7). The rate of this reaction is dependent on the counterion and the solvent. To obtain... [Pg.110]

The Baeyer-Villiger oxidation is an oxygen insertion reaction whereby an aldehyde, cyclic or acyclic ketone 1 is treated with a suitable oxidant, e.g., an organic peracid 3, to form the corresponding formate, lactone or ester 2. The oxidation takes place in two discrete steps (1) the attack of the peroxide on the carbonyl to provide the Criegee intermediate, followed by (2) rearrangement to the product ester. [Pg.160]

The ring synthesis of the tetrahydro-1,3-azoles is simply the formation of N,N-, N,0-or A, S-analogues of aldehyde cyclic acetals the ring synthesis of the 4,5-dihydro-heterocycles requires an acid oxidation level in place of aldehyde. A good route to the aromatic systems is therefore the dehydrogenation of these reduced and partially reduced systems. Nickel peroxide, " manganese(IV) oxide, copper(II) bromide/ base, and bromotrichloromethane/diazabicycloundecane have been used. The example shown uses cysteine methyl ester with a chiral aldehyde to form the tetrahydrothiazole. [Pg.422]

The pH-dependent transfer hydrogenation of water-soluble carbonyl compounds in the presence of a hydrogen donor (HCOONa) was studied for a different series of carbonyl compounds, namely straight-chain aldehydes, cyclic aldehydes, ketones, aldehyde-acids and keto-acids. The reaction rates were found to be higher for aldehydes than for ketones. Furthermore there was a strong pH dependence of the reaction, the best results being obtained at pH 3.2. This value corresponds to the higher yield of the catalyst formed from the catalyst precursor and HCOONa. [Pg.59]

Since this reaction is acid catalyzed, it can be minimized by adding a buffer such as sodium acetate or by adding water [30]. Lithium acetate catalyst also produces less ethers than since acetate. Some other side reactions are the formation of aldehyde, cyclic trimer of ET, and dioxane. Oxidation of glycol ends produce aldehydes that lead to colored compounds. Traces of dioxane can form from the cyclization of glycol. [Pg.717]

In conclusion, the COX and COLE kinetic scheme possesses a structure which is reasonably compatible with macroscopic experimental observations relating to the oxidation of alkanes at low temperature. It also gives some indication about the distribution of the families of products formed (alkenes, aldehydes, cyclic ethers) as a function of the operating conditions and especially of the temperature. Its structure can be found in the detailed mechanisms of oxidation of the alkanes which will be discussed in Chapter IX. [Pg.196]

Alumina sulfuric acid (ASA) was found to be an effective catalyst for the solvent-free one pot Beckmann rearrangement of several alkyl and aryl aldehydes and ketones 1. It has been reported that the electron rich aldehydes and ketones require shorter reaction times than the electron poor aldehydes. Cyclic ketones require longer reaction time than the aryl ketones ascribable to the steric factors. ... [Pg.280]

Enoate reductases (EC 1.3.1.31) are flavin-dependent and iron-sulfur-contain-ing proteins found among others in Clostridium species. Members of this NADHrflavin oxidoreductase/NADH oxidase family are distinguished from other ERs due to their high stereospecificity and strict regioselectivity for the reduction of double bonds of monoacids and monoesters, as well as reducing classical substrates such as a,p-unsaturated aldehydes, cyclic ketones, and methyl ketones. However, these enzymes are extremely oxygen sensitive, so they have not been employed in biocatalysis so far [2,3]. [Pg.473]

Transformation of Cyclic Ethers into (0-Iodoalkyl Formates and of Aldehyde Cyclic Acetals into a,m-Alkanediol Esters by Hypothetical lodoxyl Radicaf°... [Pg.2247]

The photolysis of cychc ethers with an excess of HgO-Ij reagent in benzene gives the corresponding iodoalkyl formates in one step tetrahydrofuran can be transformed into (O-iodoalkyl formate in 31% yield (Scheme 47). Aldehyde cyclic acetals lead to monoesters of ot,(D-alkanediols in one step (Scheme 48). The formation of the products can be rationalized by postulating iodoxyl radical participation, as outlined in the schemes. [Pg.2247]
