Because SPMDs have high sampling rates (Rs s) for vapor phase contaminants, all SPMDs are assembled in an environmentally controlled room equipped with an activated carbon air filtration system for the removal of airborne contaminants. SPMDs of almost any length can be prepared after allowance of space for the molecular welds or heat seals (i.e., 2.5 cm for each end). However, different... [Pg.88]

Brown and Berni (26) developed a novel method to separate fine dusts (in the respirable range) from cotton trash material. The dust is separated on sieves by mechanical agitation. The trash typically consists of condenser filter cake material collected by an air filtration system attached to a processing unit such as a... [Pg.314]

Air filtration systems, including prefilters and particulate matter air filters, should be used when appropriate on air supplies to production areas. If air is recirculated of dust from production in areas where air contamination occurs during production, appropriate exhaust systems or other systems adequate to control contaminants should be requested. [Pg.819]

CFR211.46 states that a) Adequate ventilation shall be provided, b) Equipment for adequate control over air pressure, micro-organisms, dust, humidity, and temperature shall be provided when appropriate for the manufacture, processing, packaging, or holding of a drug product, c) Air filtration system, including prefilters and particulate matter air filters, shall be used when appropriate on air suppliers to production areas. ... [Pg.459]

Continuous total particulate monitoring can also provide assurance that the air filtration system within the isolator is working properly, just as in the normal environmentally controlled area [13]. [Pg.476]

Numerous nonplasticizer uses of DEHP have been reported. However, it is not clear to what extent these uses arc, or have ever been, important. These include 1he use of DEHP as a solvent in erasable ink, as an acaracide in orchards, as an inert ingredient in pesticide products, in cosmetics, in vacuum pump oil, as a component of dielectric fluids in electrical capacitors, to detect leaks in respirators, and for use in testing of air filtration systems (HSDB 1990 Mannsville Chemical Products Corporation 1990 NTP 1989). [Pg.193]

Process isolation and installation of an appropriate air filtration system in the physical plant may reduce product exposition to chemical and microbiological contaminations. In addition, the use of a suitable dust removal system as well as a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system (HVACS) may help to repress product chemical instabilities [6],... [Pg.319]

Before the start of the operational testing of JACADS, the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs received an allegation that JACADS air filtration system did not meet industry standards. The air filtration system was one of the last systems the contractors had to test and accept before the plant could go operational. Initially the filter system could not pass the test because of welding leaks, inadequate filter clamps, and gaps in the charcoal trays. The operations and maintenance contractor and the air filtration contractor corrected these problems, and the system has performed according to the Army s specifications with no breakdowns affecting destruction rates. The air filtration contractor has also won the contract to provide similar systems for the follow-on facilities in the continental United States. [Pg.50]

The air filtration system is one example of the complex and unique systems operating at JACADS. The filter system reduces the concentration of toxic agents in the ventilated air to levels that are harmless to operating personnel, the environment, and the surrounding population. The system consists of ten filter units. Each filter unit contains ... [Pg.50]

In 1985, the operations and maintenance contractor awarded the air filtration contractor, by competitive bidding, a subcontract totaling 2.9 million to fabricate and install JACADS air filtration system. After the units had been fabricated and delivered to JACADS, the operations and maintenance contractor awarded the air filtration contractor a 1.3 million sole-source contract to expand for safety purposes the original filters from two banks of charcoal each to a total of six. [Pg.51]

The air filtration system was one of the last systems on which the operations and maintenance contractor had to perform testing and acceptance before the contractor could begin operational testing of JACADS. The system could not be fully tested until all the processing equipment had been installed, the building and duct work had been sealed off, and the plant s painting had been completed. [Pg.51]

The testing began in January 1990 and was completed in May 1990. The principle tests focused on showing that the units were airtight and that the charcoal filter trays sufficiently absorbed the chemical agents. Army standards stipulated that the filtration system meet an 99.99% efficiency rate (allowing only 1 part in 10,000, or 0.01%) of all particulate matter, to bypass or penetrate the filter system. Initially, the air filtration system did not meet the Army s standards. In order to meet the Army s efficiency standards, the following three fixes were necessary. [Pg.51]
