Addition interrupted

Side effects, such as headache and jaw pain, are observed, but the major drawbacks with epoprostenol therapy relate to its delivery. Epoprostenol has an extremely short half-life in the blood (2-3 min) and therefore must be administered by continuous intravenous infusion via a surgically implanted central vein catheter. This can lead to complications such as local infections, sepsis, or catheter-associated thrombosis. In addition, interruption of therapy due, for example, to pump failure can lead to a life-threatening rebound of symptoms. The compound itself is unstable at room temperature and must be stored in the refrigerator. Despite these severe drawbacks, i.v. epoprosenol remains a useful treatment for patients presenting with WHO class IV PAH. The problems with epoprostenol have led to the development of alternative agents. [Pg.210]

Too fast a rate of addition may cause aggregation of the lithium. If this occurs, the addition should be interrupted and the rate of stirring diminished until the aggregate has disintegrated. [Pg.12]

Nate 1. Care should be taken that no solid crust of THF is formed on the bottom of the flask if it is, the bath should be removed temporarily and addition of the base interrupted. [Pg.137]

Jote 1. If the temperature in the top of the column rises above 50°C, the addition should be interrupted. [Pg.192]

It is recommended that all instruments be provided with an additional time switch, so that the interruption of the protection current supply outside working hours (i.e., during the night) is not maintained. In this way the reduction in the protection current supply is kept as small as possible this amounts to 10% with 27 s on and 3 s off. This can be significant in the measurement of a long pipeline, which can often take several weeks. [Pg.100]

Information on defects can be obtained with good approximation from Eq. (3-5 la). The value of is all that is necessary for an overview. should be as high as possible to increase the sensitivity. In addition, to eliminate foreign voltages in the soil, it is necessary to switch the polarization current on and off with the help of a current interrupter periods of about 2 s off and 18 s on are convenient. Potential differences independent of the polarization current that are the result of foreign currents or electrode faults (see Section 3.2) are totally excluded by this method. On the other hand, the IR component of a compensation current can also be... [Pg.128]

The header cable between anode bed and rectifier must be particularly well insulated. For this reason cables with double plastic sheathing of type NYY-O are used. The cable sheath must not be damaged during installation because the copper core at the defects will be anodically attacked in a very short time and the connection to the rectifier broken. Damage to the cable sheath is not so serious if a multicored cable is used. Usually not all the core insulation is damaged so that the operation of the anode bed is not interrupted. In addition, measurement of resistance and detection of defects is easier. [Pg.245]

Backup features can be incorporated to provide additional operation security. Emergency run-down bearings (Eigure 6-2) prevent damage in die case of unforeseen power interruptions or electronic failures. [Pg.334]

No systematic study of the minimal required amount of lead tetraacetate has been made. In cases where the product of the hypoiodite reaction is an iodo ether (20-hydroxy steroids) the reaction can be interrupted at the iodohydrin stage by reducing the amount of iodine to about 0.5 mole. For the oxidation of iodo ethers to lactones, chromium trioxide-sulfuric acid in acetone has been used. Silver chromate is often added to the reaction mixture but comparable yields are obtained without the addition of silver salt. [Pg.250]

The most widely used fluoroelastomers are copolymers of VDF and HFP and optionally also TFE. HFP interrupts the crystallimty of otherwise crystaUme PVDF TFE increases the fluonne content for mcreased solvent and heat resistance without raising the glass transition temperature as much as would an equivalent amount of additional HFP The dipolymer is random except that there are no contiguous HFP units and can therefore be represented as follows... [Pg.1112]

Cost of business interruption. The cost of business interruption is significantly influenced by various commercial factors. For example, if you are not producing at fiill capacity it may be possible to make up lost production at other facilities or when the plant comes back into operation. The business interruption costs will only be the additional costs of production, transportation and any lost sales. As these conditions can vary from month to month it may be more appropriate to adopt a standard method of calculating business interruption costs for PSM and ESH purposes. One commonly adopted approach is to estimate the tonnage of production lost and calculate the cost as being the difference between the sale price and all manufacturing, storage and transportation costs. [Pg.125]
