Based on McKeeman (1962), an adaptive rule for approximating the area F (/, u) conditioned on a user-specified error tolerance s(> 0.0) is considered. Differently from authors such as Malcolm Simpson (1975), it is suggested here to resort to a relative error instead of an absolute one. The latter may lead to a prohibitive number of evaluations of non-normahzed FCDs that involve total mass reasonably greater than one. Thus, it is considered here a local relative error ...

The end users of CBR systems should in principle be able to maintain the case-bases themselves and use the systems for varying inspection types (within certain limits). Adaptation of neural-network based systems, though possible by end-users, is difficult to be done reliably. Adaptation of rule-based systems usually has to be done by the rule-base designer.

Square nodes in the ANFIS structure denote parameter sets of the membership functions of the TSK fuzzy system. Circular nodes are static/non-modifiable and perform operations such as product or max/min calculations. A hybrid learning rule is used to accelerate parameter adaption. This uses sequential least squares in the forward pass to identify consequent parameters, and back-propagation in the backward pass to establish the premise parameters.

To date, only two exceptions to the pK of 8 rule have been found the Rieske protein from Sulfolobus acidocaldarius (139) and that from Thiobacillus ferrooxidans (140).
