Active peak

Another series of antiinflammatory carboxyhc acids that ate derived from cortienic acid (107), a minor adrenal metabohte, has been described (104,105). Esterification of both the 17a-hydroxyl group and the carboxyhc acid of (107) were requited to develop a compound of high topical potency with low systemic activity. Peak activity was generally associated with a 17a-propionoxy group and a 17P- uoromethoxy carbonyl (eg, (108)), or 17P-methoxycarbonyl residue. [Pg.106]

The findings recently reported can be relevant to understand the functional role of transmitter release from astrocytes in brain function. Interestingly, a recent report shows for the first time the occurrence in vivo of fast astrocytic calcium events in response to neuronal activity, peaking with millisecond time-scale from sensory stimulation (Winship et al. 2007). [Pg.284]

Figure 2. CM-cellulose chromatography of pectolytic enzymes. The activity peaks of the flow-through of a DEAE-cellulose chromatography was applied to a CM-cellulose column. The column was eluted with a NaCl (0-0.5M) continuous gradient at a flow rate of 34 ml/h. 10 ml fractions were collected and assayed for pectolytic activities Symbols (0) pectate lyase ( ) polygalacturonase (reducing sugar-releasing activity) (x) protein. The course of separation of the lyophilisate from pulp by this method was very similar to separation of the juice lyophilisate but led to only one activity peak. The pH optima determination (Fig. 2) and gel chromatography on Superose 12 (Fig. 3 a,b,c) showed these fractions to be partially purified, complex mixture of more exopolygalacturonase forms with different molecular masses and pH optima. [Pg.810]

The approximate determination of molecular masses of polygalacturonases present in the medium (Fig. 5) showed two activity peaks corresponding the values of about 40 kDa for polygalacturonase and 50 kDa for exopolygalacturonase. [Pg.904]

That the number of sites, or film structure or thickness, depends on the current density is also seen if the current is increased or decreased stepwise.112 An additional activation peak of potential is needed at any increase in the current density. Conversely, upon decreasing the current density, an inverted potential peak is obtained, indicating that for some moments the current passes under previous film conditions. [Pg.438]

There is very recent evidence that there is an extremely fine mode in the particle activity size distribution. Reineking, Becker and Porstendorfer (1985) used several diffusion batteries to determine a Po-218 activity peak in the 1-3 nm diameter range. [Pg.370]

Cell proliferation, predominantly in the proximal tubules, occurred in Wistar rats following a single oral dose of 100 mg/kg 1,2-dibromoethane in corn oil. Mitotic activity peaked at 30 hours. Lack of any histologic evidence of tubular necrosis between 8-48 hours after treatment indicates that such proliferation was not a regenerative response (Ledda-Columbano et al. 1987b). [Pg.39]

Drugs acting only on the distal tubule (however complete the resulting block of sodium resorption at that site) are limited, in the effect obtainable, by the comparatively small contribution to total sodium reclamation made by this portion of the nephron. For example, even at their activity peak, thiazide diuretics cause the elimination of only 8 per cent of the total filtered sodium [302, 303] Very much higher proportions of filtered sodium would be expected to contribute to diuresis if the mechanisms of the loops of Henle could be blocked (this has, in fact, proved to be the case in that frusemide and ethacrynic acid are both capable of clearing up to 20 per cent of filtered sodium [302, 304-6]). [Pg.38]

It has been proposed that the production of xylanases and cellulases is under separate regulatory control in some filamentous fungi (1). Hrmova et al. (42) reached a similar conclusion after monitoring the daily production of these enzymes in Trichoderma reesei QM 9414. Xylanase and cellulase activities followed independent production profiles during fungal growth. The same effect has been observed in batch cultures of T. harzianum. We have observed peak xylanase activity on the third day of growth whereas the cellulase activity peaked after day five or six (unpublished). [Pg.644]

Rosbash The paradigm from the fly genetics work has been that a lot of mutants have been analysed where there is excellent tracking of period and phase in advances and delays. 1 can t think of an exception where the evening activity peak doesn t shift in the proper direction and with the appropriate magnitude in response to a period mutant. Can one think about these dislocations in terms of... [Pg.180]

In Section 4.1.3. it was stated that the stability of CoTAA catalyst increases continuously on thermal pretreatment of mixtures with activated carbon (BRX) at temperatures of up to 900 °C, whereas the activity peaks below this level. [Pg.164]

In their original purification, Persoons et al. (1974, 1976) identified several active peaks, one of which was named periplanone-A (Persoon s periplanone-A is isoperiplanone-A) (Persoons et al., 1990), but two of the four possible diastereomers of isoperiplanone-A had different spectral data from isoperiplanone-A (Shizuri et al., 1987a,b) and one of them was tested and found to be behaviorally inactive (Persoons et al., 1990). Several other compounds were proposed, synthesized, and shown to be inactive (Shizuri et al., 1987c Macdonald et al., 1987). However, an active compound (Hauptmann s periplanone-A), similar to but with different spectral data from Persoons periplanone-A, was isolated earlier (2 Table 6.2) (Hauptmann etal., 1986 Nishino etal., 1988). Both enantiomers of Hauptmann s periplanone-A were synthesized and only (-)-periplanone-A was found to be highly active (Kuwahara and Mori, 1990 Okada etal., 1990a). Persoons isoperiplanone-A... [Pg.190]

The system relies upon preliminary fractionation of the microbial crude extract by dualmode countercurrent chromatography coupled with photodiode array detection (PDA). The ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectra and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) of biologically active peaks are used for identification. Confirmation of compound identity is accomplished by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Use of an integrated system countercurrent chromatography (CCC) separation, PDA detection, and LC-MS rapidly provided profiles and structural information extremely useful for metabolite identification (dereplication, Figure 14.1). [Pg.191]

FIGURE 12-43 Variations in the activities of specific CDKs during the cell cycle in animals. Cyclin E-CDK2 activity peaks near the G1 phase-S phase boundary, when the active enzyme triggers synthesis of enzymes required for DNA synthesis (see Fig. 12-46). Cyclin A-CDK2 activity rises during the S and G2 phases, then drops sharply in the M phase, as cyclin B-CDK1 peaks. [Pg.468]

Little is known of the physical properties of guanine aminohydrolase. Elution of rabbit liver enzyme from Sephadex gave a skewed activity peak the estimated molecular weight of the main component was 170,000, a minor shoulder component, 525,000 (60). [Pg.76]

There is one sharp, distinct peak of endoglucanase activity from young fermentation broth. In comparison, the ten-day-old culture exhibited additional endoglucanase peaks, while in the fourteen-day-old culture four different endoglucanase activity peaks were observed. The activity peaks of enzyme obtained from older cultures are similar to those obtained from commercial cellulase preparations as shown in Figure 1. Similar results have been observed by Nakayama (16). [Pg.263]
