Abstract bulletins

Traditional paging through patent office gazettes and printed abstract bulletins stiU serves a usefiil purpose in patent alerting. It can be difficult to frame a query for a computer search on all the subject matter that might be of interest to an organization. The human mind can spot unanticipated material and relate it to interests, something presendy beyond the power of the computer. [Pg.58]

Endvedu-2007 International Conference, Brasov, Romania, Book of Abstracts Bulletin of the Transilvania University of Brasov, 2007. In press. [Pg.176]

Timesaving Is Largely Foresight. There are also timesavers for searchers. They depend on foresight. Cognizance of company needs and technical trends makes it possible for a search department to anticipate possible future searches. Keeping a card file on likely search subjects as pertinent material turns up in the daily routine is especially helpful in a small company that does not print abstract bulletins. [Pg.11]

As new reports are received they are screened for suitability, AD (ASTIA Document) numbers are assigned, and the reports are cataloged and analyzed. To announce new reports, ASTIA publishes The Technical Abstract Bulletin (TAB). This is a semimonthly publication, arranged by subject fields of interest. TAB lists both classified and unclassified reports but is itself unclassified and also has a numerical index of all reports announced in it. In addition, it includes a Notice of Changes in Classifications or Limitations in the status of documents which were previously announced. As a further reference aid, ASTIA publishes quarterly and annual indexes which list reports by descriptors and by sources. [Pg.188]

Use of loose-leaf abstract forms is of particular value in the continuous collection of data for supplements to existing searches or surveys. As two of its services, the Information Section issues a Weekly Literature Notification Bulletin, which calls attention to articles of interest in the current literature, and the Chemical Abstracts bulletin already mentioned. During the preparation of each, abstract forms are filled out for all articles on subjects for which supplements will eventually be... [Pg.258]

After they are recorded on the form shown in Figure 3, a stenographer fills out the forms, makes additions to the files, and prepares the bulletin. During the page by page check of Chemical Abstracts for the abstract bulletin, notations are made of all abstracts to be added to the supplement books on the standardized forms, and this is done by the same stenographer who prepares the bulletin. Figure 4 shows a typical notation sheet for this operation. [Pg.169]

Many of the journals, bulletins, standards, and irregular publications of trade associations belong to a well-used segment of chemical literature. Among many others, the ASTM standards, the MCA safety regulations, the Journal of the AG A, the NPVLA Abstract Bulletin and the AM A Facts and Figures on Automobiles come to mind. [Pg.22]

Textbooks and manuals of value in the dairy industry are not numerous the best are listed. Two thirds of the periodical dairy science literature appears in journals not devoted to dairy science. Abstract Journals must be consulted the most valuable of these is Dairy Science Abstracts. Bulletins are issued by miscellaneous sources such as experiment stations and research institutes. [Pg.258]

Another technology utilization publication, the Patent Abstracts Bulletin, deals with NASA-patented inventions available for licensing, which number now more than 3,500. [Pg.66]
