Above-Ground Tanks

Where storage tanks can be placed depends on whether they are above ground or underground the nearest building, property line, or public way the type of organization that uses the tank and how it is used and for above-ground tanks, whether they are fire resistant or not. 

Tanks to store fuel above ground must be built as above-ground tanks tanks built as underground tanks cannot be used as above-ground tanks.

LNG is predominantly methane, not toxic but flammable in air. Protection should be provided in the form of bollards or guardrail to prevent errant vehicles from colliding with the dispenser. For above-ground tanks, dispensers can be mounted directly on the tanks.

Above-ground tanks should be installed on reinforced concrete footings. A 1-in. (2.54-cm) layer of asphalt mastic should be applied between the tank bottom and the concrete pad to prevent corrosion and rusting of the tank bottom.

The cooling water system has been drained, and anti CoiTosion additive has been added to the lube oil, ftiel oil. and di jacket water system Fud oil lines inside the building have been drained.
