21st-Century Schools

Perhaps the most thoughtful and valuable contribution of the Commission was its 1993 presentation Health Professions Education for the Future Schools in Service to the Nation and subsequent revisions of competencies (Table 1 ) for successful practice in the 21st century. This effort has been used uniformly across the health professions by schools, professional associations, accrediting agencies, and regulatory bodies. 

At the beginning of the 21st century zeolites are the most frequently used industrial catalysts, their applications ranging from oil refining, petrochemistry and the synthesis of special chemicals up to environmental catalysis. The rapid progress of basic research and the development of new processes using zeolites led us to the proposal to organize the lsl FEZA School on Zeolites and to prepare this book.

At this moment in time, in the beginning of the 21st century, a constellation of factors has come together to increase not only our focus on but also our ability to improve systems of education and mental health for children, adolescents, and families. School-based mental health programs are at the nexus of this system transformation and improvement. Our hope is that this book captures the field s key issues and themes, past and present, while helping to spur its development to new levels of outreach and effectiveness.
