The most commonly used compatibilLzers for the blends are graft copolymers of polypropylene with maleic anhydride (PP-g-MAH) (197-203), glycidyl methacrylate (PP-g-GMA) (204,205), and acrylic acid (PP-g-AA) (198,206). They can increase the tensile strength and impact strength of the blends. Favis et al. (207-210) used an ionomer, a copolymer of ethylene and a mixture of methacrylic acid, zinc methacrylate, and isobutylacrylate to compatibUize PP/PA blends and found it effective to decrease the dispersed particles and improve mechanical properties. [Pg.50]

The Zinc Methacrylate modihcation of HNBR gives materials of very high toughness and abrasion resistance suitable for durable power transmission belts and conveyor belts as well as any other dynamic apphcation requiring abrasion resistance. Both Zeon, Zetpol ZSC 2295, and Bayer, VP KA 8796 and XQ 536, produce these zinc methacrylate modihed HNBRs for improved toughness and durability. [Pg.105]

Our customer needs a cover for a hydraulic hose, which resists temperatures to 125°C, is abrasion resistant for long life rubbing against cement floors in the application, and has excellent long-term ozone resistance. The high-temperature requirements dictate that NBR materials will not work. The combination of abrasion resistance, resistance to a wide variety of fluids that may be spilled on the hose cover, temperature resistance, and ozone resistance makes HNBR blends with Zinc Methacrylate modified HNBR the best choice. The degradation behaviour of certain copolymers containing methacrylate salt units has been examined within the last few years. The systems examined include MMA/alkali metal methacrylates (Li, Na and K), MMA/zinc methacrylate and the commercially important ionomers based on ethylene and methacrylate salts (Na and Zn ion). [Pg.1249]
