Yellowing ketone resin

Ketonic resins (Laropal K 80 , MS2A) -1930 Varnishes Seed oils Quite stable with ageing with a low tendency to yellowing... [Pg.27]

In the photopolymerization of methacrylamide by benzoin methyl ether, chain-transfer to monomer has been found to be important, and benzalde-hyde is reported to be an inefficient photoinitiator of methyl methacrylate polymerization unless benzophenone and triethylamine are present. Acetophenone has been found to sensitize the cycloaddition of maleic anhydride to 7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-5-one-2,3-dicarboxylic anhydride, , a-hydroxy-acetophenone derivatives have been found to be non-yellowing initiators, and h.p.l.c. has been used to determine residual carbonyl photoinitiators in u.v.-cured resins. In the emulsion-polymerization of methyl methacrylate using an aromatic ketone and a continuous or intermittent laser, the former conditions were found to be similar to those under continuous u.v. irradiation. The dependence of the polymerization rate and average chain-length on the absorbance of the initiator used in the photoinitiated polymerization of vinyl monomers has been studied. Interestingly, irrespective of all conditions, maximum conversion is observed when initiator absorbance is 2.51. "... [Pg.476]

Properties Yellow-brown fused mass, relatively light stable. Mp 86C, bp 350C. Soluble in alcohol, esters, ketones, aromatic hydrocarbons, and vegetable oils insoluble in water. Compatible with a wide variety of resins including most of the cellulosic and vinyl resins. Combustible. [Pg.361]

Resins. A large number of synthetic coating resins (e.g., alkyd, ketone, urea, maleate, and acrylic resins) are available for formulating nitrocellulose combination lacquers. Selection criteria include price, color, influence on solvent release, gloss, hardness, sandability, yellowing, and durability of the final coating. [Pg.15]

Chem. Descrip. a-Hydroxycyclohexyl phenyl ketone CAS 947-19-3 EINECS/ELINCS 213426-9 Uses Photoinitiator for UV-cured systems, clear lacquers for wood, plastic, paper, metal, and optical fiber substrates, adhesives, printing inks Features Rec. when high reactivity and low yellowing are required compat. with resins... [Pg.337]

Nitrocellulose, polyester, acrylic and methacrylic ester copolymer, formaldehyde resin, rosin, cellulose acetate butyrate are the most frequently used polymers in nail polish formulations. Solvents were selected to suit the polymer used. These include acetone, methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, methyl glycol acetate, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, toluene, xylene, isopropyl alcohol, methyl chloroform, and naphtha. Solvents constitute a substantial Ifaction of the composition usually around 70%. Reformulation is ongoing to improve the flexibility and durability of the nail polish. Other efforts are directed to improve antifungal properties,to eliminate ketones and formaldehyde resin (ketones because of their toxicity and irritating smell and formaldehyde resins because they contribute to dermatitis), and elimination of yellowing. All efforts are di-... [Pg.881]

Methyl ethyl ketone oxime (MEKO) (2-butanone oxime) [96-29-7] blocked isocyanates are more reactive than phenols. One package coatings formulated with hydroxy-functional resins cure in 30 min at 130°C. In automotive clear coats, MEKO leads to yellowing. Use of a combination of 3,5-dimethylpyrazole and 1,2,4-triazole has been recommended for clear coats that are non-yellowing... [Pg.1433]

Known also as Diphenyl Ketone. p-Benzoquinone -kwi- non (1,4-benzoquinone, chinone) A yellow crystalline compound used, along with many of its derivatives, as an inhibitor in unsaturated polyester resins to prevent premature gelation during storage. [Pg.75]
