Working height

Does it have handrails and toeboards fitted (Regulations insist on these when working height is at 2 meters or more. This should not preclude taking the same measures at lower heights.)...

With consistency in mind, raise the enlarger head to a comfortable working height. This should be about the height to make an 11 X 14 inch print. If the enlarger column has a scale on it make a note of this height and use it for all future proof sheets. If it does not have a scale, then mark the column with a Sharpie or tape. 

The three solution techniques are (1) change work surface height, (2) adjust elbow height, and (3) adjust work height on the machine. 

Adjusting work height may be as simple as tilting (45 or 90°) a container box. Use containers with short sides. If the part/assembly is held in a fixture, design the fixture to permit vertical and horizontal adjustment. For example, cars are now assembled in rollover frames the frames allow the operator to work on the car while it is tilted at various angles. 

The operator can, at a comfortable working height, easily exchange damaged cathodes. 

A constant air volume (CAV) fume hood draws a constant exhaust volume through the hood regardless of sash position. Because the volume is constant, the face velocity varies inversely with the sash position. The fume hood volume should be adjusted to achieve the proper face velocity at the desired working height of the sash, and then the hood should be operated at this height. (See section 8.C.4.)... 

Breadboards, Chopping Blocks, and Pullout Work Surfaces. Provide a variety of work heights for different jobs. These accessories work best when at a height of 27 in and at least 30 in wide by 24 in deep. 

Reduce heavy lifting tasks and uncomfortable work heights. 

Employees miist never use makeshift devices, such as boxes and barrels, to increase the scaffold platform working level height. Ladders may be iised on large area scaffolds to increase working height providing certain OSHA criteria is met.

Climbing means the process in which a tower crane is raised to a new working height, either by adding additional tower sections to the top of the crane (top climbing), or by a system in which the entire crane is raised inside the structure (inside climbing).

For surface sampling with pumping systems at fixed positions, a buoy placed at some distance from the main ship may be used. From the buoy, water is drawn via polytetrafluoro-ethylene (FIFE) tubes to a pump on the vessel. Sampling is often combined with in-line filtration. A successfully tested system which delivers about 2 L/min of sample to a working height of 2 m above the sea surface with an air supply pressure of 4 bar has been described by Harper (1987) see also Tokar et al. (1981). 

Proper selection mainly involves understanding the hazards presented by the work environment and having the capability to overcome the hazards. Hazards presented by the base surface, the top surface, the work height, reach, and load need to be understood. For example, spur plates at the shoes of the ladder prevent softer grounds from allowing the ladder to slip. Spreaders can be attached to the rear of the ladder to provide stable top bases while working around windows or uneven surfaces.
