Work standards approach

Cahbration of some measurement devices involves comparing the measured value with the value from the working standard. Pressure and differential pressure transmitters are calibrated in this manner. Calibration of analyzers normally involves using the measurement device to analyze a specially prepared sample whose composition is known. These and similar approaches can he applied to most measurement devices. [Pg.759]

Several assumptions were made in using the broad MWD standard approach for calibration. With some justification a two parameter equation was used for calibration however the method did not correct or necessarily account for peak speading and viscosity effects. Also, a uniform chain structure was assumed whereas in reality the polymer may be a mixture of branched and linear chains. To accurately evaluate the MWD the polymer chain structure should be defined and hydrolysis effects must be totally eliminated. Work is currently underway in our laboratory to fractionate a low conversion polydlchlorophosphazene to obtain linear polymer standards. The standards will be used in polymer solution and structure studies and for SEC calibration. Finally, the universal calibration theory will be tested and then applied to estimate the extent of branching in other polydlchlorophosphazenes. [Pg.252]

For a gentle introduction to manifolds and Lie groups, see the author s previous work [Si] for a more standard approach, see Warner [Wa]. Understanding these general concepts is not required for our work here however, we urge readers familiar with these concepts to make explicit connections between the particular calculations in this book and the more abstract or general theorems they may already know. [Pg.116]

Encourage investigators to work more as a community to standardize approaches and descriptions to a sufficiently high degree that the results from one application can be melded with and/or applied to others ... [Pg.15]

Despite its great potential, in the near future CFD will not completely replace experimental work or standard approaches currently used by the chemical engineering community. In this connection it is even not sure that CFD is guaranteed to succeed or even be an approach that will lead to improved results in comparison with standard approaches. For single-phase turbulent flows and especially for multiphase flows, it is imperative that the results of CFD analysis somehow be compared with experimental data in order to assess the validity of the physical models and the computational algorithms. In this connection we should mention that only computational results that possess invariance with respect to spatial and temporal discretization should be confronted with experimental data. A CFD model usually gives very detailed information on the temporal and spatial variation of many key quantities (i.e., velocity components, phase volume fractions, temperatures, species concentrations, turbulence parameters), which leads to in-... [Pg.233]

The objective of the GLPs is to ensure that a standard approach is undertaken covering traceability and accountability and, while still allowing freedom for the scientists, to impose certain restrictions on the generation of data and the experimental work. [Pg.1931]

As mentioned before, for this type of work, standard procedures using gradient elution are the method of choice and there are two possible approaches ... [Pg.146]

For this type of problem, time constraints generally dominate. Very often, the scale-up of a chemical reaction without extensive optimization work results in low yields and bad qualities. The necessity to deliver a certain amount of product within a very narrow time frame, in general does not allow preparative chromatography workers to thoroughly optimize the separation method. Therefore, a standard approach is required. [Pg.148]
