Waterproof casts

A waterproof cast protector is used to protect casts and bandages against water exposure while showering or taking part in light water activity. The protector complies with product standard IPX waterproofing and meets the current European waterproofing standards. It is also suitable for outdoor weather protection. Waterproof casts are made from polypropylene, PVC, and silicone. [Pg.120]

Solid, rubbery silicones likewise retain their plasticity at low temperatures and are resistant to many forms of chemical attack they are now incorporated in paints for resisting damp and for waterproofing. Silicones are also used in moulds to avoid sticking of the casting to the mould. [Pg.191]

Under the term powder tanks sealed waterproof cylinders were used for storing propellant charges. Triacetin has been used as a solvent for acetocellulose and as a plasticizer in the pyroxylin industry (Ref 5). It was patented by Hale Cameron (Ref 3) as a flash reducing agent in NC propellants. According to Ref 4, triacetin acts as a gelatinizing and waterproofing agent. It has been used successfully as plasticizer and coolant in single-base propellants and in cast doublebase propellants (see Note)... [Pg.32]
