Warning alarms

The facility evacuation and warning alarms should be activated, and personnel evacuation or muster should commence. 

Lightweight Chemical Detector (LCD-S) The LCD-S acts as a local warning alarm system for individuals and small groups of persons within the domestic or military market. It simultaneously detects, identifies, and differentiates between type of chemical warfare agent at below attack concentration, and warns users when to don personal protective equipment. 

Since a steam curtain may activate at any time, warning alarms and signs should be placed to alert personnel who may be in the area to the need for immediate evacuation. Also, personnel who may have to work close to... 

The shutdown setpoint was found to have been mistakenly raised to the maximum of the instrument s setpoint range or 1600° F (870° C). (The tube-metal high temperature alarm should have been fixed at 830° F (443° C) and the shutdown temperature should have been 850° F (454° C).) The investigating team concluded the limited burner shutdown instrumentation had not been properly inspected and tested to insure the necessary high degree of reliability. Perhaps the instrumentation was troublesome. If just a high tube metal temperature warning alarm would have sounded, the loss may have been minimized. 

It is good to integrate as many system failure alarm/warning systems as possible. For hydrogen leaks, for instance, a variety of different leak detectors are available. The concentration level to set a warning alarm is usually about 1% (10,000 ppm) of hydrogen by volume in air which is about 25% of the lower flammable limit, which is 4% (40,000 ppm) in air.

Many insects metabolize terpenes they have received with their plant food to growth hormones and pheromones. Pheromones are luring and signal compounds (sociohormones) that insects and other organisms excrete in order to communicate with others like them, e.g. to warn (alarm pheromones), to mark food resources and their location (trace pheromones), as well of assembly places (aggregation pheromones) and to attract sexual partners for copulation (sexual pheromones). Harmless to the environment, pheromones may replace conventional insecticides to trap harmful and damaging insects such as bark beetles. 

As a further prevention when flammable gases are being used, potential ignition sources must be carefully controlled. Work areas, rooms, chambers, or laboratories should be suitably monitored to automatically warn persoimel when a dangerous condition is developing. When practical, it would be advisable to provide for the cryogenic equipment to be shut down automatically as well as to sound a warning alarm. 

Sufficient warning alarms, safety devices, and interconnections must be incorporated. 

Precautionary measures (electrical safety interconnections for switching off drives for certain equipment) and warning alarms (for smoke and gas detectors and for high and low levels in process tanks) ... 

Fire alarms, high-pressure warning alarms ... 

Provision of photoelectric flame monitor with warning alarms and tripping system for fuel supply shall also be made if flame is extinguished due to any reason. 

Prevent possibility of overloading of hoists by providing warning alarms and tripping of drive motor if there is excess weight. 

Warning alarms, safety devices, and interconnections are in working order. No such device has been bypassed to keep the plant working. 

Sufficient warning alarms, safety devices, and interconnections must be incorporated and vendor shall demonstrate satisfactory working of all such systems prior to handing over the plant to purchaser. 

General omission error (e.g. skipping a necessary step), when there is no warning alarm or display 1x10-2... 

Table 5.5 lists the key characteristics of the fuel cell system. The RS232 communication port is used because this is the type of port used by telecommunications stations. Some warning actions had two sets of values one set for less-severe situations that triggers the warning alarm but does not shut down the fuel cell system the other set is for more severe situations that trigger the warning alarm and shut down the fuel cell system. If the fuel cell system is not able to shut down when the severe values are reached, the fuel cell system or the load it powers can be damaged. 

Warning alarms should be provided to notify employees that a conveyor is about to be started (especially after shutdown for maintenance work). Code words may be sent over mobile telephones. 

While an overflow detection system combined with a warning alarm and evacuation procedures may meet the requirements for an effective protection layer in considering the risk to an individual, it may not do so for the overall exposed population.
