W-Tridecane

Yoon, Smith, and Matsuda, on the other hand, compared two approaches, using a united-atom model and a fully atomistic model.Stochastic dynamics and MD simulations of w-tridecane (C13H28) were used to study polyethylene. Besides studying the bulk melt, the authors examined confined melts between solid surfaces. Chain conformations, chain packing orientational correlations, and self-diffusion were among the properties studied. In regard to chain confer-... [Pg.189]

Sample Preparation. Calibration standards and test solutes were injected ai dilute solutions in the eluent. Polystyrene standards were 0.03 (w/v). Styrene, ODCB and normal hydrocarbons were 0.15 (w/v), except for dodecane and tridecane (0.65 ). Samples involving more complex matrices were prepared by crushing (if necessary), dissolving a weighed amount in the eluent, and filtering through a 0.45 Millex-SR filter cartridge (Millipore, Bedford, ma). [Pg.175]

If the LRI of the component to be acquired is known, it is easy the find the internal standard. The n-alkane closed to, but does not overlap or interfere the adjacent components or peak of the volatile oil, can be used. For example Polrat used tridecane as internal standard to determine camphor, isoborneol and bomeol in some curcuma spp. (Aromdee, 2007). Aromdee (2010) used w-hexadecane as an internal standards for determination of benzyl alcohol (1040), 2-phenylethanol (1119) and methylparaben (1525) in M. elengi. n-Alkanes are universal used for internal standard for gas chromatographic determination of volatile constituents, but not limit to the herbal volatile oil. [Pg.280]

We found (Vorobjeva et al., 1979a) that propionibacteria of different species were able to oxidize a mixture of w-alkanes of the following composition (%) dodecane, 0.4 tridecane, 4.2 tetradecane, 15.7 pentadecane, 26.9 hexadecane, 26.8 heptadecane, 17.9 octadecane, 6.2 and eicosane, 0.5. They also oxidized individual w-alkanes with chain lengths from 8 to 18 carbon atoms as well as cetyl alcohol. The results of manometric investigations showed that the bacteria (except cocci) oxidized -alkanes in the mixture without a noticeable lag-period (Fig. 4.8). The absence of a latent period can be associated with a synergism of alkanes. [Pg.140]

Since Freeman and Rowlinson s publication [31] the amount of experimental information in the system -alkane/polyethylene has increased considerably. Papers by Nakajima et al. [34-36], Kodama and Swinton [37, 38], Koningsveld et al. [39], and Kennis et al. [40] deal with the molar mass dependence of the LCM in terms of cloud-point curves of linear polyethylene in various alkanes, ranging from w-pentane to n-tridecane, and in binary mixtures of -alkanes. Galina et al. [41] reported a spinodal and a cloud-point curve for a polyethylene sample (M = 177 kg mol in -hexane, measured with Gordon s Pulse Induced Critical Scattering technique [42, 43]. [Pg.384]
