Vitamin intranasal

Ketamine is a cyclohexane human and veterinary injectable anesthetic that is also known by the slang names K, special K, vitamin K, and cat Valium (Bobo and Miller 2002). It is produced in a liquid form or as a white powder and is usually ingested orally or intranasally but is occasionally administered intramuscularly. Ketamine is a phencyclidine (PCP) analog that was first developed in 1962. [Pg.258]

Vitamin 8 2 malabsorption in remission following injectable vitamin 8 2 therapy - 500 meg intranasally once weekly. [Pg.70]

GST activity. Cigarette smoke, administered intranasally to young male C57BL mice fed 0, 5, and 100 ppm of vitamin E, 20 minutes/day for 8 weeks, produced no effect... [Pg.312]

Lung aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase activity. Cigarette smoke, administered intranasally to young male C57BL mice fed 5 and 100 ppm of vitamin E, 20 minutes/day for 8 weeks, produced no effect on hepatic aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase. All of the mice on the vitamin E-free diet showed reduced lung aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase activity. Lung aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase activity was increased in all of the smoke-exposed mice L... [Pg.318]

Unconventional routes of drug administration by using gels and jellies are also being explored. Thus, two nasal jellies were developed and marketed. The intranasal vitamin B-12 gel, Nascobal (Schwarz Pharma), is used as a dietary supplement. The gel base is composed of a hydrophilic cellulose derivative, the exact nature of which is not disclosed. However, the gel is apparently odorless and non-iriitating, and adheres well to the mucous membrane. Neo-Synephrine Viscous (Sanofi Winthrop) is a water-soluble nasal jelly formulated with methylcellulose it contains the decongestant phenylephrine hydrochloride. [Pg.1882]

Calcitonin therapy requires the concomitant oral administration of elemental calcium (500 mg/day). Clinical studies have shown that the combination of intranasal calcitonin salmon (200 lU/day), oral calcium supplementation (>1,000 mg/day of elemental calcium), and vitamin D (400 lU/day) has decreased the rate of new fractures by more than 75% and has improved vertebral BMD by as much as 3% annually (3). Calcitonin prevents the abnormal bone turnover characteristic of Paget s disease of the bone and has antiresorptive activity. In the presence of calcitonin, the osteoclast brush borders disappear, and the osteoclasts move away from the bone surface undergoing remodeling (36). Side effects are significantly more pronounced when calcitonin-salmon Is administered by injection and can include nausea, vomiting, anorexia, and flushing. Because calcitonin-salmon Is protein in nature, the possibility of a systemic allergic reaction should be considered. [Pg.1421]
