Tricyclic antihistamines as a rule carry aliphatic nitrogen as a substituent on a side chain attached to the central ring the side chain nitrogen may be part of a heteroaromatic ring. Conjugate addition of p-chloroaniline (49) to the substituted vinylpyridine 50 gives the alkylated aniline 51. Treatment of that intermediate with nitrous acid leads to N-nitroso intermediate 52 which is then reduced to the hydrazine (53). Reaction of 53 with N-methyl-4-piperidone... 

Au NPs have been synthesized in polymeric micelles composed of amphiphilic block copolymers. Poly(styrene)-block-poly(2-vinylpyridine) in toluene has been used as nanocompartments loaded with a defined amount of HAuCl4 and reduced with anhydrous hydrazine. The metal ions can be reduced in such a way that exactly one Au NP is formed in each micelle, where each particle is of equal size between 1 and 15 nm [113]. In another example, the addition of HAuCfi to the triblock copolymer (PS-b-P2VP-b-PEO) (polystyrene-block-poly-2-vinyl pyridine-block-polyethylene oxide) permits the synthesis of Au N Ps using two different routes, such as the reduction of AuC14 by electron irradiation during observation or by addition of an excess of aqueous NaBH4 solution [114]. 

The bis-adducts of 4-phenyl-4/f-l,2,4-triazole-3,5-dione with 2-vinylpyridines are reported to yield, on treatment with hydrazine, pyrido[3,2-c]pyridazines unsubstituted in the pyridazine moiety together with the corresponding 4-hydrazino compounds.106... 

Latter MacGillivray et al., reported the use of this type interaction for templating monofunctional olefins containing N-heterocycles (4-stilbazole and 4-vinylpyridine) in photochemical reactions. A recent review on this topic was included by Biradha and Santra, which showed interesting examples reported by them on the reactivity of N,N -bis[3-(4-pyridyl)actyloyI]hydrazine templated by different silver salts (Scheme 21). This review also provides examples of cationic assemblies where the counterions such as NO3 and BF4 did not assist in the formation of Ag Ag interactions, however acceptable interactions are observed in such arrays. ... 

The synthesis of DAAmEP was conducted in three steps. The first step was a Michaelis-Arhuzov reaction between N-(2-bromoethyl)phthalimide and an excess of triethyl phosphite under reflux at 160 °C for 12 h. In the second step, the reaction between the resulting phthalimide and hydrazine led to the formation of (2-aminoethyl)phosphonic acid diethyl ester. The final step consisted of the reaction between the actyloyl chloride and the diethyl ester, which was achieved in the presence of poly(4-vinylpyridine), 2% crosslinked, to trap the hydrochloric acid produced during the acryloylation. The final DAAmEP monomer was obtained after purification by chromatography on silica gel. All intermediate products were characterized by H and P NMR. The H NMR spectrum of the DAAmEP monomer allowed validation of the expected chemical structure and as a consequence the synthetic pathway. RAFT homopolymerization of DAAmEP was carried out with two different trithiocarbonate chain transfer agents (see Scheme 2.6).
