Vertical-clamp machines

ANSI/SPI B 151.29 Vertical Clamp Injection Molding Machines (VCIiMM) D Safety Requirements for the Manufacture, Care, and Use. [Pg.130]

Fig. 4-11 illustrates, the 4-stage cycling of the rotary turntable machine. Rotary turntable machines are available with from two to twelve stations, platen sizes up to 24 in. by 29 in., with vertical clamp design and clamping pressures from 385 - 880 tons. The clamping mechanism is fully hydraulic. Shot capacities range from 26 - 267 oz. Machines are also available with metered shot control that permits injection of a different shot... [Pg.266]

Mostly the mechanical stirring machines (devices) essentially comprise of a variable-speed electric motor adequately clamped and strategically positioned just above the reaction vessel, which causes stirring due to a rotating vertical rod (normally glass, but can also be made up of stainless-steel or Teflon). Usually a paddle or vane (i.e., the blade of a propellar) is attached to the bottom end of this rod. The rotating action of the rod with the vane or paddle is solely responsible for agitation of the reaction mixture as shown in Fig. 3.9. [Pg.56]

Another approach to increase production is to use one parison extra long to cover two or more cavities located vertically in the mold. In fact, one parison can extend the multiparison with two or more vertical cavities. AH that is required is a machine with the capacity to handle the output from the extruder to the clamping capability. See blow molding, extruder horizontal rotary-wheel blow molding, extruder vertical rotary-wheel clamping platen, rotary clamping platen, shuttle mold cavity. [Pg.117]

The experiments were carried out on a vertical machining center. The silicon nitride workpieces were clamped to a vice firmly fixed onto the base of a strain gauge dynamometer. The dynamometer was clamped onto the machining center table and the reciprocating grinding operation was performed. [Pg.226]

In these machines, the needle moves only up and down to form the stitch, and the clamp feed moves the fabric horizontally (jc-axis) or vertically (y-axis), creating the required shape. The movement of the clamp is controlled by a cam-follower mechanism or electronics. In a cam-follower mechanism, the specific pattern of button sew (e.g. N or X), specific length and width of buttonhole or specific shape of tack (e.g. I or D) can be made by one specific cam type, and for any change of pattern and/or shape of tack, the cam needs to be replaced and involves machine downtime. In an electronic machine, the movement of the cam is controlled by a microprocessor, and thus a different pattern and/or shape of tacks can be sewn easily by changing the program in the microprocessor. [Pg.289]

A schematic diagram of the machine is shown in Figure 1. The abrading razor blade bears on the rubber sample which is in the form of a wheel 6.25 cm diameter and 1.2 cm wide. The blade is clamped at one end of a freely pivoted arm which has a simple dashpot damper at the other end. The whole arm is mounted in a spring cantilever the movement of which, and hence the applied force, is detected by a transducer. The geometry of the machine is such that this force is the frictional force developed, and the normal reaction on the blade is equal to the applied vertical load. The abrasion loss is obtained from the weight change of the rubber sample. Abraded rubber... [Pg.134]

The type of injection moulding machine most widely used is the horizontal machine in which the injection units and clamping equipment employed to open and close the mould operate in the same plane. Vertical machines are manufactured and are particularly useful where inserts are required, these machines are however largely manual in operation. [Pg.68]
