The described assay is used for the quantitative determination of the anti-cancer drug D-24851 (formula) in human plasma and urine in a concentration range of 1-1000 ng/mL (plasma) and 0.25 to 0.50 ng/mL (urine). The calibration range for the urine method is very limited in this assay. The reason for this is the limited solubility of the drug in an aqueous and protein free environment such as urine. Therefore, linearity of the assay was only found up to a maximum concentration of 50 ng/mL. [Pg.613]

Disadvantages of urine methods include incomplete collection owing to patient error and impaired excretion caused by renal disease. Concomitant measurement of urinary creatinine excretion allows assessment of the completeness of the collection. Salivary cortisol measurement is practical and convenient to assess cortisol secretion in ambulatory patients who can provide multiple specimens that can be stored in a freezer between clinic visits. Morning salivary cortisol concentration is decreased in adrenal insufficiency evening values are increased in Cushing s syndrome. ... [Pg.2039]

Methods to detect cyanide exposure in human urine, saliva, and either serum or plasma have concentrated on thiocyanate. These methods include derivatization with HPLC/UV detection, derivatization with spectrophotometric detection or GC with BCD detection. Some urine methods have measured the urinary metabolite, 2-aminothiozoline-4-carboxylic acid. [Pg.532]
