Another approach to public perception of risk is to simply ask the public. This was the approach of Fischoff ct al., 1977 in which a survey of the League of Women Voters in Eugene, Oregon was taken. Later studies covered 40 college students at the University of Oregon, 25 Eugene businessmen and 15 national experts in risk analysis. [Pg.13]

Although the antioxidant power in flavonoids has been studied for many years, researchers from the Linus Pauling Institute at the University of Oregon (Lotito and Frei, 2006, 2004) suggested that their effect in vivo is not significant. Some of the premises that led the researchers to this assumption are the following (a) it is known... [Pg.156]

Dr. Lincoln Clark, at the University of Oregon, for example, had published an article about this subject years earlier, in which he had tried sodium amytal (the popular notion of a truth serum), and various other drugs. It would appear that agents such as BZ and EA 3834 might challenge the conclusions drawn from Dr. Clark s experiments. (The CIA had already tried LSD for the same purpose and found they could not use it reliably to extract deliberately withheld information.)... [Pg.387]

Julie A. Haack is a senior instructor and assistant department head for chemistry at the University of Oregon, where her work has focused on the incorporation of green chemistry principles into the introductory chemistry curriculum for both science and nonscience majors. She is a leader in facilitating the identification, development, and dissemination of green chemistry educational materials throughout the chemistry curriculum. [Pg.50]
