Units rationalized

The 1993 market for LPC-type products in the United States was for dried alfalfa meal for animal feed. This product is sold for both protein and carotenoid content. The USDA Pro-Xan product attempts to obtain improved xanthophyU contents for use in egg-laying rations in addition to protein contents. The limitations to commercial development of LPC products for human food use are high capital costs as compared with the low yields of protein, seasonal availabihty of raw materials, and the need in the United States for FDA approval of the products. 

Feeding standards, which have been instituted nationally, indicate the amount of the essential amino acids (together with other nutrients) for the rational breeding of domestic animals. The feeding standards of the National Research Council (NRC) of the United States and Agricultural Research Council (ARC) of the United Kingdom are well known (the former indicates the minimal amount and the latter shows the recommended amount). 

During the 1980s some rationalization of capacity occurred in the United States reducing the number of producers to four with the purchase of NeveiUe s chloriaated paraffin business by Dover (ICC). Instant coffee is the dried water-extract of ground, roasted coffee. Typical levels of MAH in grafted PP of 0.5-2 wt % correspond to only one or two units per chain. If the MAII units arc grouped it follows that many chains may contain no MAH. It has also been suggested that for PP all MAH may appear at the chain ends. This is rationalized in terms of the reaction of mid chain radicals with MAH always being followed by intramolecular chain transfer and chain...
