Ultraforming process

Ultraformers may be designed to produce high-purity xylenes and toluene, which can be separated by straight distillation before the extraction step. The benzene fraction can be recovered by extractive distillation. High yields of C5+ reformate and hydrogen have been reported for the ultraforming process. The total capacity of ultraforming is over 530,000 b/d for 39 commercial units worldwide. However, no new ultraformers have been licensed in recent years. [Pg.404]

Several significant reforming processes are ia use (37,38). These iaclude Powerforming (Exxon), Ultraforming (Standard Oil Co.), Rheniforruing... [Pg.40]

Ultraforming A catalytic reforming process developed by Standard Oil of Indiana and licensed by Amoco Oil Company. The catalyst contains platinum and rhenium, contained in a swing reactor - one that can be isolated from the rest of the equipment so that the catalyst can be regenerated while the unit is operating. The first unit was commissioned in 1954. [Pg.278]

The oldest and most common method of POM toughening is by incorporation of TPU. Delrin POM/TPU blends were commercialized in 1960. The others followed, e.g., Celcon , Duraloy , Formaldafil , Fulton KL, Hostaform , RTP 800, TC, or Ultraform . These alloys have high impact strength and elastic recovery that depend on composition, morphology, as well as on the compounding and processing methods. Examples of these blends are listed in Table 1.66. [Pg.74]

Blends of POM/TPU Ultraform ) must be reprocessed with care. When the processing stock contains regrind of different pellet size, the change in the flow properties may affect the product characteristics. Furthermore, since these blends are immiscible with other thermoplastics, contaminated regrind may lead to delamination. Contamination with other thermoplastics, especially with small amount of PVC, may cause sudden, uncontrollable decomposition engendered by dehydrochlorination of PVC. [Pg.750]

In addition to cat cracking and coking, we did a lot of work on ultraforming. This was a hot area and we got caught up in a wide variety of pilot plants and catalysts. We also got involved in alkylation using sulfuric acid, a pretty messy process. Td have to say that over the years at Standard Oil there was literally no end to the number of projects that we handled. [Pg.174]

In catalytic reforming, only the platinum catalyst processes (Platforming,Catforming,Sinclair Baker, Ultraforming, Powerforming, Sovaforming, etc. ) are sufficiently well defined to allow the prediction of yields (see Table 21-24). The approximate maximum... [Pg.772]

Catforming (Atlantic Ref. Co.), Houdriforming (Houdry Process Corp.), Powerforming (Esso Research Eng.), and Sovaforming (Socony-Mobil). Ultraforming (Std. Oil Ind.) and Sinelair-Baker-Kellogg. [Pg.811]
