Swing reactor

Regeneration of the catalyst may be continuous for certain processes that are designed to permit the removal and replacement of the catalyst during operation. In certain other processes, an additional reactor is used (Swing reactor). When the activity of the catalyst is decreased in one of the reactors on stream, it is replaced with the stand-by (Swing) reactor. 

Ultraforming A catalytic reforming process developed by Standard Oil of Indiana and licensed by Amoco Oil Company. The catalyst contains platinum and rhenium, contained in a swing reactor - one that can be isolated from the rest of the equipment so that the catalyst can be regenerated while the unit is operating. The first unit was commissioned in 1954. 

The swing-reactor design reserves two of the hydrodemetallization reactor design reserves for use as guard reactors one of them can be removed from service for catalyst reconditioning and put on standby while the rest of the unit continues to operate. More that 50% of the metals are removed from the feed in the guard reactors. 

Hyvahl F process a process for hydroconverting heavy feedstocks to naphtha and middle distillates using a dual catalyst system and a fixed bed swing-reactor. 

Finally, a pressure-swing reactor would allow to automize the cycling of the reagents and to perform much more CSC cycles, creating a precursor with a thickness of /xm. 

Description Ziegler-Natta and metallocene catalysts are directly injected into the reactor from storage whereas chromium catalysts are injected following activation of the catalyst via BP proprietary technology.
