The moving horizon scheme using the two-stage model is shown in Figure 9.6. In contrast to the deterministic scheduler which uses the expected value of the demands dls and ds i (see Section 9.2.2), the stochastic scheduler updates the demand in form of the distribution given in Table 9.1 d, df, d]+1, and dj+1. [Pg.193]

Figure 1. Three isotope plot of O isotopes in Allende inclusions. Deviations are plotted in 6 units which are %o deviations relative to the terrestrial SMOW standard. In a two stage model, normal inclusions had initially a composition close to point A and exchanged with a reservoir poorer in O in the region of point D (Clayton et al. 1973). FUN inclusions underwent an intermediate step along a fractionation line between point A and point C. Then each inclusion exchanged with the same O poor reservoir D (Clayton and Mayeda 1977). In addition to genotoxicify studies with chlorophenols themselves, the corresponding activity of some of their metabolites has also been examined. The major metabolite of pentachlorophenol in mice and rats, tetrachloro-7 ora-hydroquinone, induced mutations in the hprt locus (but not the ouabain-resistance locus) of V79 Chinese hamster cells (Jansson Jansson, 1991), covalent damage (including 8-hydroxyguanine) in naked DNA in the presence of Cu(Il) (Naito et al., 1994), DNA strand breaks and accumulation of p53 in NIH 3T3 cells in vitro and transfonnation of mouse embryo fibroblasts in a two-stage model (Wang et al., 1997). The same metabolite, as well as tetrachloro-1,4-benzoquinone and tetrachloro-l,2-benzoquinone, caused DNA strand breaks in V79 Chinese hamster cells (Dahlhaus et al., 1996). [Pg.804]

In Equation 8 the first two terms (x = 1 - E ) give the conversion for the unreacted core model. The remaining terms in this equation give the conversion in the inner core for the two stage model. The data at 1000 °C and 1040 °C showed that fractional conversions of the samples are approximately the same as the values predicted by the first two terms of Equation 8. This shows that at high temperatures unreacted core model becomes the controlling mechanism due to the increased concentration of CO2 in the pores and diffusion limitations. Experiments carried out at different temperatures also showed that the ratio of macropore... [Pg.522]

How do independently presented relations between two objects become represented as a linear order A two-stage model has been suggested in which premises are initially linguistically encoded as separate relationships or propositions based on common terms and relationships, these initial units are placed into a linear spatial framework that not only... [Pg.39]
