Trigger events

These mirror those at fixed installations, but loss of eontainment due to the triggering event ean oeeur anywhere en route. Thus aeeidents may oeeur in populated or environmentally sensitive loeations, or where domino effeets are less easily eontrolled. Common risks are also assoeiated with all vehieular movements and meehanieal/manual loading/unloading aetivities. 

Analysis of accidents and major losses in the CPI indicates that they rarely arise from a single human error or component failure. Often there is a combination of some triggering event (hardware or human) together with preexisting conditions such as design errors, maintenance failures or hardware deficiencies.

The effect of flavonoids on spore germination and hyphal growth of ecto-mycorrhizal fungi is poorly known. However, several metabolites relea.sed by the plant roots trigger events leading to their infection (44,55). In the saprotrophic phase, spores of several ectomycorrhizal fungi respond to stimulation by abietic acid, the diterpene resin acid, in root exudates (56).

The superheated liquid concept, in any case, may only supply a local trigger to initiate the RPT. Other ways to trigger such events are possible, e.g., detonation of small explosive charges can sometimes be employed. To produce large-scale, coherent RPTs, the trigger may cause collapse of vapor films in adjacent masses of volatile liquid and lead to the escalation of the small triggering event.
