Triazon

UF solutions are clear water solutions. They contain only very low molecular-weight, water-soluble UF reaction products plus unreacted urea. Various combinations of UF solutions are found. They contain a maximum of 55% unreacted urea with the remainder as one or more of methylolureas, methylolurea ethers, MDU, DMTU, or triazone, a cycHcal oligomer. AAPFCO has defined this class of compounds as urea—formaldehyde products (water- s oluble). [Pg.130]

Triazones form ammonium ions much more slowly than urea. Slow-release potassium is also being developed. A coating of sulfur seems to delay its release. For phosphorus Mg(NH4)P04 is becoming popular because it has a slower dissolution rate in the soil. Despite the simple chemicals used in most fertilizers, some interesting research and formulation work will keep chemists involved in the industry for some time to come. [Pg.398]

There was a tendency to use these resins mixed with urea—formaldehyde or melamine-type resins. Preparation of pure triazones or uron resins is difficult and expensive (61,62). Furthermore, the basic nature of the amine nitrogen in triazone permits the use of mixtures of triazones with other agents to yield finishes that retain strength in hypochlorite bleaching. [Pg.445]

General Procedure for Preparation of Triazones 5a-f. 264 mg (3 mmol) /V,/V-di-metliylurea, 1 g paraformaldehyde, 3 mmol primary amine 4a-f and 2 g montmorillonite K-10 were irradiated by microwave in a Teflon vessel. The reaction mixture was filtered and washed with water. The organic phase was separated and dried with Na2S04 and concentrated by vacuum distillation. Purification of the... [Pg.267]

The chemical name of this reagent is l,3-bis(hydroxymethyl)-4,5-dihydroxy-imidazolidinone-2 but it is usually called DMDHEU or the glyoxal reactant because it is prepared from glyoxal, urea, and formaldehyde. Other methylolamide agents that have been used for producing wrinkle resistance in cotton include the aforementioned urea formaldehyde, dimethylolurea, dimethylolethyleneurea, and formaldehyde adducts of melamines (triazines), acetylenediurea, propyleneurea, uron, triazones, and alkyl carbamates. Reactions between methylolamides and cellulose occur in the presence of acid (or Lewis acid) catalysts and are very fast at elevated temperatures—sufficiently so that they are adaptable to the requirements of rapid, commercial processing of cotton fabrics. [Pg.88]

Other chemical crosslinking agents that have been nsed to provide durable press properties to cellulose include dimethylol ethylene or propylene urea, diglyoxal urea, triazons, urons, carbamates, diepoxides and diisocyanates. However, owing to either high cost or limited technical advantages, very few are actually used commercially, sometimes as minor components of mixtures for special effects. [Pg.62]

CNC CATALYST PM is a metallic salt accelerator designed as the complete catalyst for use with thermosetting resins. This catalyst is especially efficient for use with modified urea-formaldehyde, glyoxal, ethylene urea, triazone and melamine-formaldehyde resins. [Pg.130]

Octyl triazone is a UVB absorber structurally unrelated to the benzophenones. Photocontact allergy to this agent in a sunscreen has been described (7). [Pg.3249]

Dimethylol cyclic ethylene urea (4) dimethylol methyl triazone (5) and trimethylol melamine methyl ester (6) are also used. [Pg.290]
