Triallyl isocyanurate

A polyvinyl alcohol is obtained by suspension polymerization of vinyl acetate and the cross-linking agent, triallyl isocyanurate, with a triazine ring followed by alkali hydrolysis. The polyvinyl alcohol gel is used as packing for gel-... [Pg.22]

Thus, a semilogarithmic plot of the gel time as a function of 1/T should be linear, with the slope corresponding to the apparent activation energy. We have determined the gel times for a temperature range of 25°-50° C for a thiol-ene system consisting of stoichiometrically equivalent amounts of a trifunctional thiol, trimethylolpropane tris(2-mercaptoacetate), and a trifiinctional allyl monomer, triallyl isocyanurate. In this system, we also added 0.31% by weight of hydroquinone, to prevent premature polymerization, and 1.0% by weight of a commercial photoinitiator, Esacure TZT. [Pg.161]

Figure 6. The semilogarithmic plot of gel times as a function of 1/T for the trimethylolpropane tris(2-mercaptoacetate)/triallyl isocyanurate system is used to determine the apparent activation energy. From the slope, the apparent activation energy was found to be 6.6 kcal/mol. Figure 6. Peroxides decompose when heated to produce active free radicals which in turn react with the mbber to produce cross-links. The rate of peroxide cure is controlled by temperature and selection of the specific peroxide, based on half-life considerations (see Initiators, free-radical Peroxy compounds, organic). Although some chemicals, such as bismaleimides, triallyl isocyanurate, and diallyl phthalate, act as coagents in peroxide cures, they are not vulcanization accelerators. Instead they act to improve cross-link efficiency (cross-linking vs scission), but not rate of cross-link formation. [Pg.236]

Triallyl cyanurate (TAC) and triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC) are used as crosslinking agents for methacrylates and UP resins to improve heat and solvent resistance as well as thermooxidative stability. [Pg.74]

Curing of multicomponent systems consisting of BPA/DC, BMI and diallyl or triallyl esters (triallyl isocyanurate TAIC in particular) results in high Tgvalues. Such compositions consist of BPA/DC, BMI, TAIC, diallyl phthalate and dicumyl peroxide [127], BPA/DC prepolymer, BMI, TAIC, /erf.butyl peroxide, Zn acetate and DABCO [128] or BMI/trimethylene bis(4-aminobenzoate) prepolymer, BPA/DC, Zn octoate and TAIC [129]. [Pg.56]

Table I-V shows the compounding receipt of the samples used in this study. In th etable phr means pers per hundred resin (rubber). The thickness of the samples was about 0.5 mm. EPDM-3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are the series of the compounding formula of the curing by low sulfur. EPDM-2 contains the relatively higher sulfur with Hypalon (Chlorosulphonated polyethylene) that increases tensile strength of elastomer. EPDM-1, 8 and 10 were crosslinked by peroxide. Triallyl isocyanurate in EPDM-1 is a multi-functional compound that increases the concentration of network. A potential for injection molding of the reaction-induced phase separation system is also used in PPE/triallyl isocyanurate system to obtain high-temperature resin with excellent flexural strength and high chemical resistance [Fujiwara et al., 1996]. [Pg.564]

The second kind is that of polyfunctional agents that could promote cross-linking (against chain scissioning). Trimethylol propane trimethacrylate (TMPTMA), trimethylol propane triacrylate (TMPTA) or triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC) belong to this category (Figure 9.3). [Pg.267]
