Transport of chemicals by road and rail

Whenever dangerous substances are transported on the highway or by rail any incident resulting in spillage of the substance could put, not only the members of the emergency service who have to deal with it, but also members of the public at risk. This risk cannot be entirely eliminated so should an incident occur, information about the substance involved must be immediately available so the emergency services can take the correct action and hence reduce to a minimum the likely effects. [Pg.139]

Packages of mixed goods to carry the label Dangerous Goods in Limited Quantities of Classes X, Y, etc. where X, Y, etc. are the classification codes for the substances in the package. [Pg.140]
