Transmitting tubes

Serves as a secondary fluorescence source, also called a monochromatizing filter preferentially transmits tube K lines.

Sensors on the tree allow the control module to transmit data such as tubing head pressure, tubing head temperature, annulus pressure and production choke setting. Data from the downhole gauge is also received by the control module. With current subsea systems more and more data is being recorded and transmitted to the host facility. This allows operations staff to continuously monitor the performance of the subsea system. 

The selection and sequence of tubes to be inspected are known at the start of a measurement campaign. After a tube has been measured, the reference is transmitted to the pre-fetching module. This latest can, through an anticipation window, copies a certain number of records on the hard disk. 

Thermospray interface. Provides liquid chromatographic effluent continuously through a heated capillary vaporizer tube to the mass spectrometer. Solvent molecules evaporate away from the partially vaporized liquid, and analyte ions are transmitted to the mass spectrometer s ion optics. The ionization technique must be specified, e.g., preexisting ions, salt buffer, filament, or electrical discharge. 

The indicator element measures the signal from the weighing element, and converts it into a readable form. It may be any of several different types, eg, the graduated beam of Figure 3, a Bourdon tube pressure gauge, or a numeric display device. Today (ca 1997), with the increase in automation, the indicator element may not display the weight but may instead transmit it electronically to a controller. 

In fire-tube furnaces developed in the nineteenth century, such as typified by the Scotch-Marine boiler (Fig. 1), thin currents of water contact a multiplicity of tubes thus, the hot gases transmit heat simultaneously to aH regions of the bulk of the water. Therefore, this boHet—furnace combination steams readily and responds promptly to load changes, and is, for a given amount of heating surface, the least expensive of aH furnace—boHet instaHations... 

In filled thermometers the thermal expansion of a gas or a liquid is transmitted through a thin capillary tube to a bellows or helix, where the deformation indicates the temperature. The temperature range of filled thermometers is very wide, approximately -200 to +700 °C. They are extremely robust but are not very high in accuracy. The application is mainly for process instrumentation and as stand-alone control devices. 

The receiving gauge in the control room works on the transmitted pneumatic pressure, 15 psi giving full scale, but has its dial calibrated in terms of the plant pressure that it is indicating. The Bourdon tube of such a gauge is capable of withstanding only a limited amount of overpressure above 15 psi before it will burst. Furthermore, the material of the Bourdon tube is chosen for air and may be unsuitable for direct measurement of the process fluid pressure.
