Indicators elements

K, electron capture IT, isomeric transition X, X-rays of indicated element (e.g., O-x, oxygen X-rays, and the type, K or L)... [Pg.333]

The indicator element measures the signal from the weighing element, and converts it into a readable form. It may be any of several different types, eg, the graduated beam of Figure 3, a Bourdon tube pressure gauge, or a numeric display device. Today (ca 1997), with the increase in automation, the indicator element may not display the weight but may instead transmit it electronically to a controller. [Pg.325]

The weighing and indicating elements may be incorporated into a single housing (as in the case of many bench and retail scales) or the indicating element may be remotely mounted... [Pg.327]

Also, the signal sent to the A/D converter is not a voltage, but rather only the current necessary to return the lever to its null position. For balances, the weighing and indicating elements are usually integrated into the same housing. [Pg.328]

In each case, we first determine the molar mass of the compound, and then the mass of the indicated element in one mole of the compound. Finally, we determine the percent by mass of the indicated element to four significant figures. [Pg.47]

Paleoenvironmental Indicators Elements or compounds that reflect ocean history. [Pg.134]

Fig. 15.1). The extracts also contained a particulate sulfide oxidase (0.5mol oxygen consumed per mole sulfide, indicating elemental sulfur to be the product), at an activity of about 2nmol oxygen per minute per milligram protein. [Pg.208]

These plots use Al, Ca, Mo, and Ba as indicator elements for the alteration depth of Al-rich oxide phases, perovskite, intermetallic phases, and hollandite, respectively. Fig. 6. Those found in shells would indicate elemental migration into and out of the pellet. [Pg.110]

Manufacturers frequently indicate elemental purity by some number of 9s. This deceptive nomenclature is based on the measurement of certain impurities. For example, 99.999% (five 9s) pure A1 is certified to contain S0.(KJ1% metallic impurities, based on the analysis of other metals present However, C, H, N, and O are not measured. The A1 might contain 0.1% A1203 and still be five 9s pure. For the most accurate work, the dissolved gas content in solid elements may also be a source of error. [Pg.736]

Compared with that, the maximum deposition of aluminum occurs in the winter months. Aluminum can serve as an indicator element for lignite combustion, as thermo-analytical investigations of flue gases in lignite heating plants have shown [EINAX and LUDWIG, 1991],... [Pg.254]

The rotameter, illustrated in Figure 6, is an area flow meter so named because a rotating float is the indicating element. [Pg.98]
