The setup details of the two-sided EMM technique are schematically represented in Fig. 4.6. The job sample is held vertically in the machining chamber. The job is made the anode of the electrolytic cell. The tool consists of two cathode assemblies mounted over the vertically held job. Highly localized dissolution of metal from the unmasked region of the two sides of the work sample is achieved by scanning the tool assembly over the work sample. The electrolyte flows through the tool assembly and passes across the surface between the cathode tool and masked workpiece anode. An extremely small lEG is maintained between the work sample and cathode, which provides uniform localized metal removal due to stable current flow distribution with negligible stray current effect. The core team for a new vacuum cleaner motor is usually small (ca. 3 members). Internal communication, therefore, is not problematic. It is not realistic to collocate the extended team (tooling, assembly line, process planning). Extended team members are working on the project part-time only. Specific knowledge and methods for the vacuum-cleaner development are presented in Fig. 22.10.

For the mould tool assembly, the handling attributes data are shown in Fig. 7.12. Such details were captured for all the parts, including the purchased ones. A section of the assembly task sequence for the mould tool is shown in Fig. 7.13, including the summary of cost.

Bottom hole assemblies and certain types of downhole equipment (e.g. logging tools, MWD tools) cost several US 100,000. Some logging tools will have radioactive sources which may need to be recovered or isolated for safety and legal reasons. However, prior to commencing fishing operations, a cost - benefit assessment will have to be made to establish that the time and equipment attributable to the fishing job is justified by the value of the fish or the cost of sidetracking the hole. 

Electrical power is supplied to MWD tools either from batteries run in the downhole assembly or from an alternator coupled to a turbine set in the mudstream. 

In biological systems molecular assemblies connected by non-covalent interactions are as common as biopolymers. Examples arc protein and DNA helices, enzyme-substrate and multienzyme complexes, bilayer lipid membranes (BLMs), and aggregates of biopolymers forming various aqueous gels, e.g, the eye lens. About 50% of the organic substances in humans are accounted for by the membrane structures of cells, which constitute the medium for the vast majority of biochemical reactions. Evidently organic synthesis should also develop tools to mimic the Structure and propertiesof biopolymer, biomembrane, and gel structures in aqueous media. 

Analysis of Data. A veteran practitioner of chemical market research likened this step to the assembly of a jigsaw puzzle. There are many pieces of unequal size and importance that must be put together to make a picture understandable to everyone. Call reports, secondary data inputs, experience, and judgment are the tools used by the market researcher to analyze the data, reach conclusions, make recommendations, and write the report.

A number of turbomaehinery users have speeified Pilgrim s CHAT (Coupling Hole Alignment Tool, Figure 6-33), in addition to radial fit bolts. CHAT is a further development of the radial fit bolt, designed to aehieve eoupling hole alignment in the least amount of time and to a toleranee that permits radial bolt assembly. The CHAT tool is based on the same prineiple as the bolt and also uses hydraulie power.
