Legal reasons

Bottom hole assemblies and certain types of downhole equipment (e.g. logging tools, MWD tools) cost several US 100,000. Some logging tools will have radioactive sources which may need to be recovered or isolated for safety and legal reasons. However, prior to commencing fishing operations, a cost - benefit assessment will have to be made to establish that the time and equipment attributable to the fishing job is justified by the value of the fish or the cost of sidetracking the hole. 

In 1977. the technical press reported that a major leak from a 20,000-m liquefied propane tank in Qatar had ignited and that the resulting fire and explosion had killed seven people and caused extensive damage to the rest of the plant [18]. There had also been a leak the year before, but it had not ignited, and the tank had been repaired. The propane was stored at -42°C and atmospheric pressure. No detailed report on the incident was issued, for legal reasons, but a member of the company concerned published several papers [19-21], which gave new recommendations for t,he construction of tanks for refrigerated LFG, and it is thus possible to read between the lines and surmise what probably happened. 

In some situations, it may be impossible for physical or legal reasons to use blast cleaning or to spray paint when maintenance is required. In such cases, systems that can be easily maintained or very long-life systems should be considered. 

The purpose with the Aquifer Storage is to deliver basic free cooling to the DC system at a temperature level below +6-8 °C. Even prior to Pasteur, alcohol content determination was important as a basis for local, import, and export taxes. Other important applications of accurate wine analysis have been to detect and to accurately determine food additives now there are legal reasons for analyzing wines for sulfur dioxide, organic chloride or bromide, sodium, cyanide, diglucoside pigments, various insecticides, fungicides, etc. Winery control calls for analytical determination of iron, copper, protein, total acidity, pH, tartaric, malic and lactic acids, etc. Finally, quality control... 

Ethanol. The accurate, reasonably rapid, and relatively inexpensive ethanol determination is the most important analytical procedure for the winery analyst. Not only is it required for legal reasons but also for winery control and research investigations. 

While little if any of what you work on in the patent arena is likely to be involved in litigation before a court, the assumption should still be made that it will because even short of litigation, the perceived validity of a patent is often the key determinant of whether a patent will actually be challenged in court. As a corollary, the value of a patent is often a function of its perceived validity, and as a result, many business deals involving patents are structured accordingly. Competent patent validity opinions prepared by patent counsel are based on legal reasoning primarily derived from federal patent case law precedence. 

Large multinational oil companies usually create "in country" companies for financial and legal reasons. 

We do not have data on the number of patents that include the names of computational chemists as discoverers or co-discoverers. Until about ten years ago, a widespread practice at the pharmaceutical companies was to routinely exclude computational chemists from patents. This exclusion stemmed in part from the hegemony of the organic chemists and partly from the legal reasoning... 

Optometrists should record each patient s drug history, the drugs used for diagnosis or treatment, any appropriate warnings, and the outcome of care if there are complications (Box 5-4). For clinical and legal reasons, optometrists should be certain to document recalls and referrals. 

Most MSDS forms are created by chemical manufacturers. They can be found in libraries, on manufacturer s websites, and by contacting manufacturers or suppliers directly. Websites are available that catalogue MSDS forms from multiple sources, for example, www.msdssearch.com. The Canadian Center for Occupational Health and Safety also maintains an extensive collection at www.ccinfoweb.ccohs.ca. For legal reasons (limitation of liability), most MSDS forms contain a disclaimer stating that users should also make their own evaluation of compatibility and fitness for use. In attempting to present the pros and cons on the subject I have apparently made some people angry. People say they want to take more responsibility for their health yet, when you give them two choices, they get nasty. They want a clear "Go" or "No Go" answer. For ethical and legal reasons, I simply cannot provide that in the case of hydrogen peroxide taken by mouth. And, no, Kessler hasn t gotten to me. I don t back down on my position because of pressure—not even to subscribers, much less a vainglorious medical enforcer like Kessler. 

For legal reasons, the lower age limit for volunteers is generally 18 years. The first studies with a new candidate drug are usually conducted in young healthy volunteers with an upper age limit of 35-40 years. The lower age limit for the elderly is usually 65 years but when specifically addressing tolerability, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in the elderly, a representative population should certainly include many subjects in their 70s or older. 

A description of alternative approaches that could substantially achieve the same regulatory goal at lower cost, together with an analysis of this potential benefit and costs and a brief explanation of the legal reasons why such alternatives, if proposed, could not be adopted and... 

Unless covered by the description required under (preceding) paragraph (4) an explanation of any legal reasons why the rule cannot be based on the requirements set forth in Section 2 of this Order.
