Dil, have the advantage that they may be used on fixed as well as living tissue, whereas the intracellular dyes, such as fluorescent dextrans and HRP, rely to some extent on the mechanisms of axonal transport and thus work best on living tissue. The principle is the same for all the dyes if you are interested in seeing the neuronal cell bodies, then apply the dyes to their distal axons, and if you are interested in the axonal projections, terminations, or growth cones, then apply the dyes to the neuronal cell bodies. The techniques described below work well on chick embryos up to at least Hamburger and Hamilton stage 25. 

Osteopathy was devised in 1874 by Andrew Taylor Still (1828-1917). His philosophy was that structure governs function, a belief that remains one of the basic principles of modem osteopathy. He claimed that tension in muscles and misaligned bones places unnecessary strain on the body as a whole. The initial strain can be caused by any number of factors, such as physical injury, or habitual poor posture, or by destructive emotions such as anxiety and fear. Adjusting the framework of the body would relieve that strain and enable all the systems to run smoothly so that the body would heal itself. Osteopathy is a manipulative therapy that works the body s structures (the skeleton, muscles, ligaments, and connective tissue) to relieve pain, improve mobility, and restore all-round health (Thomas, 1997 and General References). 

In many laboratories that have access to a nuclear reactor, neutron activation is used for the chemical analysis of rocks, minerals, petroleum, biological tissues, alloys, etc., and the technique is well suited for the determination of the concentrations of trace elements in polymers. Neutron activation analysis was used by Given et al. (1) in their studies of water tree growth in polymeric insulation and by Wu and Chen (2) in their studies of dopant-polymer interactions in MoCl5-dcped polyacetylene films. In this work the principles of the method are described and the possibilities are illustrated by means of measurements carried out on polyethylene.
