Herpes simplex virus may be transmitted to the neonate if active vaginal lesions or the prodrome is present at the time of birth. Consequently, cesarean section often is recommended for these women. Vaginal delivery is indicated if vaginal lesions or the prodrome are not present.

In seeking the answer to the riddle of human behavior, Dr. Freud found (or thought he did) that most character traits or mental attitudes in patients could be explained if only he probed far enough back into the patient s past, back to earliest childhood. He decided that the human psyche at the time of birth was like a blank slate, on which various designs were registered as the growing child adapted himself and his few primitive instincts to his circumstances to his parents, his relatives and the rules and characteristics of the household and the society. 

CSF Alls the intracerebral (intraventricular 20%) and extracerebral (subarachnoidal 80%) space. CSF originates from plasma (ultraflltration) as well as from choroid plexus (active secretion) in the ventricles, flows through cisternae and the subarachnoid space, and finally drains through the arachnoid villi into venous blood. Equilition processes establish a physiological ratio between composition and resorption of CSF. CSF flow starts around the time of birth and reaches its maximum rate at four months after birth, following the complete maturation of the arachnoid villi. 

Perinatal. The period before, during and after the time of birth, i.e., before delivery from the 28th week of gestation through the first 7 days after delivery. 

Chromium levels in biological matter have been studied extensively. In contrast to findings with other metals, chromium concentrations in the United States population ate highest at the time of birth, with a pronounced decline during the lifetime, whereas they appear to remain high in some other countries, such as Thailand and the Philippines. These findings suggest Ihe possibility of a relative chromium deficiency in the United States. The relationship of this to disturbances of carbohydrate metabolism in humans, while under study, remains to be established.

Pifferences in pentazocine disposition in smokers and nonsmokers has been observed with the former metabolizing 40% more rapidly(98).The effect of cirrhosis on pentazocine bioavailability has also been studied. The second phase is a period during which neurons migrate to the places of their final destination, places that they know because somehow they are written in the memory of their time of birth and of their birthplace. 

The concept behind this is that at the time of birth, the planetary energies are locked up in physical material and have a determined reflection, stamping their influences and energies at each level of being. The rulership of the various houses in the birth chart reveals all types of personal qualities, such as strengths, weaknesses, disease and health tendencies, and affinities for certain methods of treatment. 

The potential toxic effects at the time of birth, including withdrawal syndromes in the infant— the medication must be taken at or near time of delivery for this to occur. 

Congenital epiphora usually results from a failure of the valve of Hasner to completely open by the time of birth.This defect is often termed congenital NLD obstruction and may be present in up to 6% of infants. Infents with NLD obstruction display epiphora, and many may have a concurrent secondary dacryocystitis (see below) as a result of the stagnated tears in the lacrimal sac.

Disassociation—The separation of a thought process or emotion from conscious awareness. Host—The main or core personality of a person with multiple personality disorder, developing since the time of birth. 

The combination of a-thalassemia with chain variants has frequently been observed w hen associated with Hb-E a well-defined clinical syndrome is present which is primarily found in Thailand (Til, T13, W5). The combination of two a-thalassemia genes (a-Thi and o-Thj) and a single Hb E gene results in a thalassemia intermedia with moderate anemia and hepatosplenomegaly. At time of birth these patients produce some 25% Hb-Bart s, Hb-A, Hb-F, and small amounts of Hb-E. At a later age the disease is characterized by the presence of an increased y chain production and a decreased chain production the hemoglobin phenotype shows some 15% Hb-E, 5-15% Hb-Bart s, and the remainder Hb-A. Hb-H i t) is hardly present as is the tetramer of the yS chain.
