The two equipment simulation modules provide calculation sequences for more than 20 types of vacuum and pressure filters, potentially involving combinations of cake formation, compression, gas deliquoring and washing. Three types of filters have predominated over the past 20 years, the most widely used being the Bird-Prayon tilting pan filter shown in Fig. 10.6. The Ucego, a table filter with a peripheral side wall belt that leaves the filter to permit cake sluicing, has been popular worldwide since the late 1960s. 

The tipping (tilting) pan filter obviously, and the rotary table filter somewhat less obviously, are developments of the simple batch vacuum filter described in the previous chapter. The single lipping pan is a batch filter, just like the Nutsche, but other versions, including the table filter, are intended to allow more or less continuous operation.
