TIFF format

For publication such matrices are frequently converted into photos and stored in photo formats (JPEG, GIF, PNG). Such photo files are good for visualization, but no longer good for data evaluation. TIFF is a special case 8- and 24-bit TIFF files are photos, 16-bit TIFF format is a common storage format for raw scattering patterns25, but it is not convenient for data evaluation. 

The screens are scanned in transparent mode at 200-dpi resolution with a Typhoon Variable Mode Imager and stored in TIFF format see Notes 36 and 37). 

The U.S. Patent and Trade Mark Office (USPTO) database (http //patft.uspto.gov/) provides access to granted U.S. patents from 1976 and patent applications from March 2001. Patents can be viewed as text documents (without structures or diagrams) or as single-page images of the original document in TIFF format. Patents prior to 1976 and back to 1790 are available as TIFF images only. 

Before any treatment, top-quality photographs (Tiff format) should be taken of the face, profile and three-quarter profile (Figure 32.1), with and without flash. A flash changes the appearance and color of the skin dyschromias are less apparent and reliefs are flattened. Pigmentation and relief is more clearly visible on photos taken without flash, especially in natural low-angled light (Figure 32.2). 

Save the DyLight 547 and 647 images as separate TIFF files. The single-file TIFF format is the most useful for quantifying data from the images. Other file formats, such as Bitmap (BMP), may be appropriate for other tasks (see Note 8). 

Note. Immunofluorescence photographs shown in Fig. 5 were taken with a Nikon Microphot SA epifluorescence microscope using a Nikon PlanApo 60x, 1.4-mm NA oil-immersion objective. Images in the green and red channels were captured in a TIFF format with a Hamamatsu Photonics C5810 CCD camera... 

A series of tiff-format image frames was converted to a stack, which was then treated as a three-dimensional matrix I(x,y,t). Partial derivatives of the image sequence must be first calculated as seen in Eqs. (12) and (18). There are three popular ways for obtaining the first-order partial derivatives Sobel kernel, Roberts kernel and Prewitt kernel (also is called two-point central difference kernel). The Prewitt kernel was used as follows ... 

TIFF data, the so-called GEL-format . The GEL-format is nonlinear instead of the intensity a number that is proportional to the square root of the intensity is stored in the file. 

Figures and plots can be generated easily via MATLAB. These can be transformed into and stored in many formats, such as MATLAB s generic, , .fig, or as Jpeg, postscript, RAW, TIFF, etc. files as desired. Simply look at the dialogue box that pops up from the save icon of a MATLAB figure. TIFF (tagged image file format) time-sharing (always hyphenated)... 

Photoshop will both export figures as TIFFs, a format frequently used for print publications. The most universally accepted of these formats are the following ... 

Graphics Interchange Format, or GIF. GIF is a pixel-based format like TIFF, except the resolution is preset at 72 ppi, which is appropriate for the Web but seldom acceptable for print. 

A homogenous document type, stored in a standard graphical file format. Includes scanned paper documents. Many file formats exist, from raw bit-mapped pictures to highly complex vectored drawings in a CAD environment. Simplest file formats are bit-mapped formats (e.g., TIFF, PCX, GIF, JPEG) or generic vectored formats (e.g., WMF, CGM, DXF). Many proprietary formats exist. Some CAD formats include product database information. 

A variety of compressed graphics formats including JPEG (.jpg files), bitmap (.bmp files),GIF (.gif files),and TIFF (.tif files)...
