TIFF file

For publication such matrices are frequently converted into photos and stored in photo formats (JPEG, GIF, PNG). Such photo files are good for visualization, but no longer good for data evaluation. TIFF is a special case 8- and 24-bit TIFF files are photos, 16-bit TIFF format is a common storage format for raw scattering patterns25, but it is not convenient for data evaluation. 

A line-art figure is drawn in an application such as Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, or Corel Draw and exported as an EPS or a TIFF file. 

Submit graphical images of chemical structures to ACS journals as embedded TIFF files, using a resolution of 300 pixels per inch (ppi) for color and 1200 ppi for black-and-white images. 

Save the image as a tiff file, compatible with the spot analysis software. 

Save the DyLight 547 and 647 images as separate TIFF files. The single-file TIFF format is the most useful for quantifying data from the images. Other file formats, such as Bitmap (BMP), may be appropriate for other tasks (see Note 8). 

Using the GenePix Pro software, use the Alt Y command to open the GAL file downloaded in step 8 and open the TIFF files corresponding to your first slide using the Alt O command. 

When opening the TIFF files from the second slide, it is necessary to check the box next to Replace current images in the Open Images dialogue box. 

Use Image J, Metamorph, or Simple PCI software to convert the stacked TIFF files into a QuickTime (Apple Computer) movie for viewing and further analysis.
