The MMA-based adhesive system, 4-META/MMA-TBB resin formulation, has three components initiator, monomer liqnid, and powder. The initiator is partially oxidized TBB (TBB-0). The monomer liqnid contains 5% 4-META in MMA. The powder is finely pulverized PMMA, with a number-average molecular weight of about 100,000. The original MMA-TBB resin without 4-META is a transparent, unfilled resin. Bonding to enamel and base metal alloys is improved by addition of 4-META monomers to the liqnid part. A primer containing 0.5% 6-(4-vinylbenzyl-n-propyl)amino-l,3,5-triazine-2,4-dithol (VBATDT) in acetone is used to bond noble metal alloys. Mercaptan (SH) groups on the VBATDT monomer bond to noble metals and copper on the alloy surface. The ceramic surface is treated with a... [Pg.2205]

To illustrate the criterion for parameter estimation, let 1, 2, and 3 represent the three components in a mixture. Components 1 and 2 are only partially miscible components 1 and 3, as well as components 2 and 3 are totally miscible. The two binary parameters for the 1-2 binary are determined from mutual-solubility data and remain fixed. Initial estimates of the four binary parameters for the two completely miscible binaries, 1-3 and 2-3, are determined from sets of binary vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data. The final values of these parameters are then obtained by fitting both sets of binary vapor-liquid equilibrium data simultaneously with the limited ternary tie-line data. [Pg.67]

Fewer procedures have been explored recently for the synthesis of simple six-membered heterocycles by microwave-assisted MCRs. Libraries of 3,5,6-trisubstituted 2-pyridones have been prepared by the rapid solution phase three-component condensation of CH-acidic carbonyl compounds 44, NJ -dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal 45 and methylene active nitriles 47 imder microwave irradiation [77]. In this one-pot, two-step process for the synthesis of simple pyridones, initial condensation between 44 and 45 under solvent-free conditions was facilitated in 5 -10 min at either ambient temperature or 100 ° C by microwave irradiation, depending upon the CH-acidic carbonyl compound 44 used, to give enamine intermediate 46 (Scheme 19). Addition of the nitrile 47 and catalytic piperidine, and irradiation at 100 °C for 5 min, gave a library of 2-pyridones 48 in reasonable overall yield and high individual purities. [Pg.46]

The Mannich condensation has traditionally been carried out in the presence of water as a three-component condensation involving a carbonyl compound (or related carbon nucleophile), formaldehyde, and a primary or secondary amine. The initial step is a condensation between the latter two reactants to form a mono- or dialkyl(methylene)ammonium ion which subsequently serves as the electrophilic partner in the reaction. With unsymmetrical ketones aminomethylation generally occurs at both positions to give mixtures of isomeric 3-amino ketones. The ratio of the isomers depends strongly on the structure of the ketone, and the more highly branched (3-amino ketone usually predominates. [Pg.79]

We can represent this function in the single space, provided we use a common cut line for all three components. This is shown schematically in Fig. 17. Use of the common cut line is equivalent to taking the linear combinations in the double space, then cutting a 27i-wide section out of the entire (4)). The winding numbers n of the Feynman paths that enter the three equivalent reagent channels must all be dehned with respect to the common cut line, since they are analogous to paths starting at different points in the initial state of a unimolecular reaction (Section 11.D). [Pg.33]

In the M. capsulatus (Bath) system, all three components are necessary to obtain turnover with NADH as the reductant (57). With the M. trichosporium OB3b system, protein B is apparently not required (27). Instead, in this latter system, protein B increases the initial rates of the catalytic hydroxylation reaction (27). Catalysis can be achieved by means of a shunt pathway with hydrogen peroxide and Hox alone from both organisms (58-60). The efficiency of the shunt pathway, however, varies significantly. With M. trichosporium OB3b, alcohol yields greater than those obtained with the completely reconstituted system have been observed (58). Furthermore, upon addition of protein... [Pg.272]

O T cells are the chief components initiating the immune response against the allograft. The activity ofT cells is mediated largely through the synthesis and release of interleukin-2 (IL-2). There are three recognized subclasses of T cells ... [Pg.833]

In a defensive strategy that is based on the detection of a chemical/biological agent in order to initiate a response, the time required for authorities to respond to an attack has three components the inherent response time of the detection system, the time required to verify the validity of a detector alarm, and the time required to decide on what action to take in response to the alarm. These three elements are discussed in more detail below. [Pg.28]

In recent years, many novel MCRs - including Michael addition-initiated three-component domino sequences [10], Knoevenagel/hetero-Diels-Alder-based MCRs [11], radical chain MCRs [12], transition metal-catalyzed Pauson-Khand MCRs [13], as well as Petasis MCRs [14], have been added to the chemisf s armamentarium and successfully applied to all fields of organic synthesis. [Pg.543]

Using our dataset which includes all of the descriptors mentioned so far, we conducted a PLS analysis using SIMCA software [34], In the initial PLS model, MW, V, and a (Alpha) were removed because they are in each case highly correlated with CMR (r > 0.95). SIMCA s VIP function selected only qmin (Qnegmin) for removal on the basis of it making no important contribution to the model. In the second model, 2q+/a (SQpos A) and ECa/a (SCa A) coincided nearly exactly in the three-component space of these two, we decided to keep only ECa/a in the third and final model. This model consisted of three components and accounted for 75% of the variance in log SQ the Q2 value was 0.66. [Pg.238]

Consider the first three components listed for the gaseous product. Random statistics favor C as a product despite this, B is the major product. This suggests that equilibrium is achieved via the pathway, A B <= C. This is the expected pathway if isomerization occurs via the 1,3-hydrogen transfer depicted in Eqs. (17)—(19) on this basis, CH2=CH—CD2H, corresponding to B, should be the initial product. The surface product, which had more opportunity for reaction, is, as expected, somewhat closer to the statistical equilibrium. [Pg.40]

Therefore we tried to obtain EG-AC-TiC>2 composites using the procedure similar to that elaborated for production of EG-AC composites. The only difference here from the scheme described above is the preparation of initial mixture for now containing three components residual graphite hydrosulfate, sucrose and anatase-type Ti02 (Aldrich). [Pg.447]

A recent total synthesis of tubulysin U and V makes use of a one-pot, three-component reaction to form 2-acyloxymethylthiazoles <06AG(E)7235>. Treatment of isonitrile 25, Boc-protected Z-homovaline aldehyde 26, and thioacetic acid with boron trifluoride etherate gives a 3 1 mixture of two diastereomers 30. The reaction pathway involves transacylation of the initial adduct 27 to give thioamide 28. This amide is in equilibrium with its mercaptoimine tautomer 29, which undergoes intramolecular Michael addition followed by elimination of dimethylamine to afford thiazole 30. The major diastereomer serves as an intermediate in the synthesis of tubulysin U and V. [Pg.244]

In a further example of a multicomponent synthesis, dihydrobenz[/] 1,4 oxazepin-5-ones were prepared in good yields in two steps by combining an initial three-component Ugi condensation with a subsequent Mitsunobu cyclisation to give (124 e.g. R1 = H, R2 = i-Pr, R3 = cyclohexyl, 65%) <06OBC4236>. [Pg.455]

A somewhat related approach was followed by Molteni and coworkers, who have described the three-component, one-pot synthesis of fused pyrazoles by reacting cyclic 1,3-diketones with DMFDMA and a suitable bidentate nucleophile, such as a hydrazine derivative (Scheme 6.195) [357]. Again, the reaction proceeds by initial formation of an enamino ketone as the key intermediate from the 1,3-diketone and DMFDMA precursors, followed by a tandem addition-elimination/cydodehydration step. The details of this reaction, carried out in superheated water as solvent, have been described in Section 4.3.3.1. [Pg.232]
