Text entry

This Handbook includes all information which had become available to the editor by January 1999 on the reactivity hazards of individual elements or compounds, either alone or in combination. Appropriate source references are included to give access to more expansive information than that compressed into the necessarily abbreviated text entries. 

The commenting or uncommenting of MATLAB code line blocks can best be achieved from the MATLAB text editor window for an m file. Simply highlight a block of code lines via a mouse drag in the MATLAB text editor window, then click on the Text entry of the editor s toolbar and click Comment or Uncomment as appropriate. This action makes % commenting marks appear at or disappear from the front of each code line of the highlighted block. 

You can also format text entries in cells so that the text wraps and is displayed in more than one line (Figure 1-24). Excel breaks the text at a space character. Text can be both aligned vertically and wrapped.

The Match Case box is not checked when the dialog box is initially displayed, but because this default option can often cause problems, it s usually a good idea to check it. In the example of Figure 3-11, where CL is changed toC acid, unless the Match Case box is checked, all occurrences of the letters "cl" will be replaced, including in text entries such as NaC104. 

Each field name in the database appears in the dialog box, along with the entries from the first record in the database. The current record and the number of records in the database are displayed in the upper right comer of the dialog box. Entries in editable fields display their values in a text entry box, while values that do not appear in a text box are either in calculated fields or in fields whose contents are protected. 

GETTXT is perhaps the simplest of these. It uses ANSI control sequences to locate the cursor on the screen, to highlight a box for text entry, and through assembly-language-coded calls to an MS DOS function, intercepts individual keypresses and builds them into a text string in the text entry box. 

A user s interaction with a HyperCard stack is reported internally by passing a message -- a button has been clicked, a field has been changed through text entry. Thus HyperCard provides a robust assortment of methods for soliciting input from the user, ranging from transitions between cards to filling in specific textual information.

To further reduce the introduction of potential errors, the user interface design should avoid long text entries and instead provide options that allow the user to select prepopulated input values. Moreover, mobile apps that interact with the user in the format of a friendly conversation are also perceived as more intuitive (Microsoft 2014).
